Rod Bearings in SoCal?

Hey all, was looking for a recommendation of any good shops or 1 man shops near Orange County that can do Rod Bearings? When I had my E46 M3 there was a individual that would drive to houses and do the work. He was incredible and had about 60 E46's under his belt for Vanos work etc. was hoping to find someone like that if possible.

We have done plenty of S54, S65 and S85 rod bearings here. We stock both BE and WPC bearings and the ARP bolts. Feel free to shoot me a PM for pricing and availability.

AutoTalent in Gardena... they actually distribute the damn bearings... after helping develop the bearings.

If you dont go to MRF you're making a mistake. Malek is constantly fixing botched rod bearing jobs by other local shops.

That’s a bit far fetched, there are many good BMW mechanics in SoCal - Malek is great but this is relatively an easy job for any decent mechanic and as long as the torque specs are on point, you’ll be fine.

EAS did my 1st replacement and I had zero problems for over 100,000. BMW did my 2nd set and I'm good after another 85,000. The dealer warranty is very appealing but comes at a much higher cost of labor.

Lots of love for one shop here... that didn't tighten the ground wire on my buddy's car and that resulted in all his computer's getting fried slowly as they died one by one.

Malek warranties the work he does on his RB services. If the disconnected ground wire was a result of the RB service, why didnt he go back to Malek and have it sorted out? If he did, I'm curious what the response was.

There's a reason why a lot of guys go to him and recommend him to others. Not saying that things can't go wrong but I know Malek and the quality of his work, as well as the warranty he gives for his RB service.

From what I understand, the ground was loose so symptoms were intermittent and the computers started dying off one by one so he went to the dealer because why would a rod bearing job months ago cause this to happen.
Took them weeks to find the issue and then get the computers in to fix it.
Malek isn't gong to cover that dealer bill.

The love is warranted, brother. One job without any semblance of empirical proof that what MRF did caused the issue, can't be extrapolated to define the shop's entire reputation. While it sucks that your buddy had to go through remedial services, that fact alone does not mean MRF puts out poor work.

As a forum, we appreciate your opinion and (second-hand) experience with MRF, but let's not get into impugning professional reputations.

What's the going rate (ballpark) for rod bearings in SoCal?

I'm located in Seattle and am buying a car out of state (TX). Before I can get the car home, a friend is going to keep it at his house in Long Beach for a few weeks so I'm looking to have RB's done before I drive it home to Seattle. Thanks in advance!

So you're saying the ground on my buddy's care worked itself loose all on it's own... a couple weeks after his rod bearing change? Issue was found at the dealer, so it's well documented, along with his 5 figure repair.
I'm not saying he's a bad mechanic... just no perfect like this forum makes him out to be.
.
Dealer also damaged his car while they had it so it was a wonderful experience for him.
