I tried to register a new battery today on my E70. It claims it worked but I still have battery level low warnings after the engine is shut off. What gives?

What’s the date on the battery? It may have been low from sitting on a shelf somewhere. Not registering it won’t have any affect on getting low battery warnings. Take a long drive and charge it if it still is getting low battery warnings then something is staying on when it’s not supposed to be and drawing power

Maybe something staying on when it’s not supposed to be, I know people have had faulty EDC modules that stay on and drain battery. Not registering a battery would result in it over charging not undercharging

The updated app now works better. However, when I read battery data it didn't show previous registrations... so I re-registered the battery I had installed ~6 months ago. Hopefully there's no downside!

Now for the bad news........while this update adds more battery information options (like battery voltage histogram, etc)......for me this didn't show the mileage incident of when my battery was supposedly registered by Carly. I only see 2 battery registration timestamps: 1) Battery registration at ~72K mi (one that was done several years ago) 2) Battery registration at ~112K mi (the one I did last month after taking it to the mechanic to register) What is missing is the battery registration at 110K mi that I did using the Carly App. So this once again proves that the Carly App previously DID NOT register the battery at all. Now, maybe the Carly App works now and can register batteries going forward....but at this point, I am not going to mess with my car and to try to re-register my battery again. But I would say definitely for those that used the Carly App in the past (prior to this recent update), 99.9% that your battery was NOT registered. So do the following: 1) Update your Carly BMW app 2) Read the Battery registration information....see whether the past mileage of registration is recorded 3) If the battery was never registered, then try re-registering the battery again with the Carly App 4) Verify the battery registration mileage is truly recorded by the Carly App (don't just rely on a "battery registration successful" message in the Carly app, as many of us have confirmed that it's a false flag) |

Hi. After you re-registered, did you try verifying it was indeed recorded now? Just hit the battery registration button again and it'll pull up the current battery registration history (prior to the battery registration confirm button).

The updated App worked for me yesterday as well. I had to hit register a couple of times before it finally put the correct mileage up for the last registration. It did not have the one in it from last week though.
Thanks kimiraikkonen for starting the thread! |

Still doesn't seem to be working for me. Says it registered, but then there is commentary about sending a data log to support? History doesn't read as a battery registered recently either.
Are you guys having to check after driving a few cycles? I have a MY 2011.5.

For those that successfully registered and read history, can you take a screenshot of your data communication speed settings for the Carly adapter? Thanks

Still does not work for me either. When I first checked with the new update to the app I had no history of previous registration so I tried registering the battery again and then read the battery data again and still no history of battery registration. I tried this over and over and I tried changing the communication speed from to normal to slow to fast but each time Carly says it has finished the battery registration there is still no history of the battery being registered. Must have tried it 20 times. I sent my logs to Carly support as requested.

So not sure if there's different rev FW on the M3 DME MSS60 that is causing some M3post members to claim that Carly is working for battery registration, while for the majority of us it is still not working. Best bet I would say is to wait for other members who've registered their battery in the past to verify if it was actually done correctly? Time will tell. |

yes it's recorded properly when I read data, and shows the mileage when I did the most recent registration

Wondering if there was a change in some model years where battery was registered in power management to the DME which accounts for this issue.

It was also mentioned, that other tools don't read the registration, done through Carly. So, apparently, not only Carly doesn't read it's own registrations, but it also doesn't actually register the battery. Why would Carly read registration, done through other tools, but it wouldn't read it's own? Doesn't make sense

When the battery registration is properly done (like through Autologic or a mechanic-grade tool), then the registration is recorded in the DME. Then a tool like Carly can read this info of course. That is why I can read my properly registered battery with Carly (because it is reading a registration that was done by another tool). Yet, there is no reading of their own registration (because it never happened). So while this may be fixed now with the update (still haven't gotten the 100% confirmation yet from folks).....it is clear to me that PAST battery registration attempts by Carly did NOT work (and people just got a false-message that it was successful). |

According to my records i replaced and registered new battery in Jan 2017. When I checked a few days ago, Carly did show the last registration mileage as the correct on from Jan 2017
