CNT Racing Race Exhaust (E92/E93 M3)

Hey guys, I only found one other thread reviewing this exhaust, so I'm going to make a thread of my experience with it. I am going to be installing the CNT Racing system on my Sparkling Graphite E93. I tried to order the Megan system, but it's backordered for 2+ months through Megan/Vendors, so I did a bit more research and found the CNT system from the same vendor (ERZ Performance / CNT Racing). Placed the order today, should hopefully have it by the weekend. I will post pictures of the exhaust system, before and after install, with a full review of the sound quality, etc.

I am a fan of loud exhaust systems, but since this is a vert, would appreciate it being not TOO loud. I personally own an E60 M5 with an E-Race system and love the sound, but in a big sedan like that it doesn't get to you like a loud system would in the E92/E93.

Anyways, I am excited to get the system. It looks like they raised their price recently, as people reported getting it for $399 shipped, but now it's $525 shipped. I found a 5% off coupon bringing it down to $498 shipped.

I would be interested in hearing this in person and getting a clip of it since I'm local to you. I wouldn't have high hopes for a $500 system, but you never know.

It looks similar in design to RPI, and other "race" type designs, so I'm pretty sure it's going to be a good amount of "loud". Toward the end of this vid the revs sound very nice. The exhaust looks brand new in these vids so I'm sure it's not broken in at all yet either:

Wow that sounds amazing!

My wife didn't want anything obnoxious since it's a convertible and the top will be down 90% of the time anyways

UPS shows it'll be here tomorrow!

Exhaust came in, and I installed it in about 4.5 hours start to finish. Biggest pains were the factory rubber hangers, one side came off/on like butter, but the other side took me 1 hour to get onto the new system. Being an E93, getting the factory exhaust off was a pain because of all the underbracing as well.

Initial Impressions: Absolutely love it. Welds and quality is what you'd expect with a very expensive system, not a $495 system. It sits a bit lower than I expected, might need some more fine adjusting. Sound wise, it's LOUD. Hopefully will tone down a bit as it breaks in.

For the money ($495 shipped) at this point it seems like an AMAZING deal.

Has a very nice tone to it, definitely can tell it's a v8, but yet it sounds like an exotic at the same time, hard to describe. I'll try and post a vid after it breaks in within a week or two.

Here are some cell pics:

Can't wait to break this exhaust in!

Those tips are really pretty for the price. Bet they'd look perfect with a diffuser

Looks good but how about an upclose rear view shot so we can see how low the tips are? If you plan on doing a rear diffuser then you don't want it too high (IMHO, at least a 1.5" clearance from the bottom of the bumper to the top of the tips.

It's probably about 2" from the top of the bumper to the top of the tips. Here is a picture I just took after a quick wipe down:

The exhaust had a loud rattle from the piping hitting one of the underbraces, just loosened it up and bumped it up an inch and it's all fixed

I've never heard any other E9x exhaust, but I can tell you this exhaust is LOUD and not for the faint of heart. The sound I amazing, it still retains that "exotic" high pitch sound of the M3, yet letting people know there's a big V8 in there.

Looking good! If it's around 2" then you should be set for a diffuser with no tips rubbing...Vorsteiner GTS-V style cf rear diffuser FTW!

I have the same exhaust. It is a bit loud but I don't mind it. The sound is great. The only time I'd like it a smidge lower is during highway cruising.

The tips are the best part, I love them. I was planning to do an exhaust delete and a set of decent tips were close to the cost of this cat back.

I painted the back of the mufflers because I didn't want the chrome showing from the rear.

Rear shot. Left tips are adjusted higher now, in the pic they were lower than the right side.

I actually like the chrome mufflers from the back, especially when cars behind catch that reflection off it.

How did you adjust the tips? Also the plate that each muffler bolts to, did you put it in front or behind the tabs on each muffler?

Yes, release that side and push the mufflers up and then tighten. May take a few times trail and error to get it to sit where you want.

I always hear about "Drone", what exactly is drone? Is that when you decelerate?

What exactly are you releasing when you do this? The clamp by the secondary cat, the clamp bracing the slip-on part, or the bolts by the bumper attached to the metal bracket?

a sound you get at cursing RPMs. It can be annoying on some systems/ to some people.

See, this is what I thought it was, but I couldn't understand what people wanted. If you want a quiet exhaust, get a quiet exhaust. If you want a loud one, then get a loud one. I don't understand people who want loud sometimes, quiet other times, etc.

There is a difference between a loud exhaust that drones (resonance) and a loud exhaust. You can have a loud exhaust but doesnt drone so bad. Resonance doesnt bother me to much as long as it isnt ql you hear.
