The Slonik solution looks like a sure bet. Everything matches up, fitment is perfect and I had two points engaged on one of my spare paperweights and it was already rock solid. I was going to try a full test fit but I didn't want to chance breaking or bending the piece while taking it back off. Not saying it would, but I push my luck enough as is, lol.
Once again, all the locators and contact points are maintained from OEM as far as I can tell. |

General update for my group buy guys - the first 8 sets are en route to me, leaving Russia yesterday. The second 8 should be en route by Friday. I will send out a formal email once I have received both tracking numbers.

On a side note, wasn't aware that the S55 seem to have similar plastic covers, BUT with a bolted washer in metal outside which assumingly keep things in place better.

Received both Slonik's and couple of OEM (Mr Vanos) today. Like you guys I'm totally happy and convinced just from the look and feel. Looks milled from one piece, so sturdy and good looking.
Out with the flimsy plastic - in with the metal! Can't help myself posting yet another picture: |

Mine arrived in 16 days from Russia. Definitely very nice looking and feels robust. I have no doubt it will last a long time.

the plastic covers are actually okay, but because these engines run so damn hot and service intervals from the factory were not to spec with this motorsport engine everything took a toll on the overall reliability of this car.

So can the S85 covers be used on the S65?

BTW chatted with a dealer who confirmed they've seen similar solution to the Slonik - and fwiw think its good - but obviously not allowed by BMW to use them. |
