you can find a Samsung tablet for like $100 new, it can double as gauge/data logging.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have at least one such tablet lying around; it may be too old for the software, but even new ones are cheap.
Hopefully I will be able to use my OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth adapter which I bought for BimmerCode.

These are the codes you want to disable (for left and driver side only). As for the belt, if you used the stock buckle, you can remove the plug from the stock seat harness and plug it directly to the harness in the car - that is what I did. You will be able to search for the codes in their search bar.

With some effort using ProTools, I now have both seats in my 2013 M3 disconnected and no codes.
It required one non-obvious step. (See below)

1. I first disabled all the mentioned codes which in ProTools are found under Safety->Airbags->Coding->Expert->Equipment.
(The search only works when you are in the correct category.)
Upon saving the changes I of course got the Airbag light.

2. I then shut off and disconnected the seats.

3. Unfortunately I still got the Airbag light and codes 93BF, 93AE, 93AF; the last two are the Active head restraint codes. I double-checked that AKS_LINKS_1_CD and AKS-RECHTS_1_CD were disabled and they were.

4. Next I added RECA to the VO. In ProTools this is under Vehicle->Vehicle Order->Edit->Options. I saved that, restarted, but still got the Airbag light.
When I added RECA and saved it, ProTools noted that this changes factory settings in both Airbags and Footwell module and asked if I wanted to change those to the factory settings. Since I didn't want my Airbag settings changed again I declined.

5. SOLUTION - I went back to the VO in ProTools, disabled and re-enabled RECA and it again asked if I wanted to change Airbags and Footwell to factory settings. This time I unchecked Airbags, but left Footwell checked and selected "Re-Code". Seconds later the Airbag light turned off and it stayed off after a restart.

So, it appears there is another code in the Footwell module which I (we?) don't know about. At least on a 2013 M3. That might be why the OP had success by adding +RECA.

Sorry, I don't know if ProTools would have correctly disabled the relevant Airbag settings for +RECA if I had let it.

Thanks to everyone; I could not have done it without the info in this thread.

Thank you - this helped a lot. Already had my driver seat swapped and coded remotely by a tuner to get rid of errors. Removed my passenger seat as well now, and got a bunch of new errors. I went through the items in your list, ignored the driver-specific ones and now the errors are gone. Did it with Bimmergeeks protool

I'm not trying to install a race seat, but some really good info in this thread and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get my issues sorted out. I just swapped fox red seats into my 2013 E93 (convertible) and the issue I am having is the replacement seats came from a 2008 donor car. 2008 cars did not have the active head restraint system, so I was told all I had to do was to code the headrest restraint out for both front seats and I should be good. Let me also add in that the fox red drivers seat also had a deployed side airbag when I purchased it.

To begin I replaced the side airbag in the drivers seat and also learned that I needed to replace the seat belt receptacle (tensioner). I replaced that as well. The airbag in the passenger seat did not deploy, so I left that seat belt tensioner in place. I had a remote coder code out the active headrest restraint system using Tool32, but we were unable to clear the airbag restraint system errors. He also tried INPA with no success.

I brought the car to a local shop that has ISTA and he is saying that both seats are still showing a seat belt tensioner fault. This is weird as I swapped the seat belt tensioner from my fully functioning 2013 drivers seat, so I am 100% sure it was not "blown". Now the car has an additional 2nd harness (in addition to the large seat harness) that plugged into the original seat, which the replacement 2008 seats does not have. I was assuming this harness was for the active restraint system, but maybe it has something else in the harness as well that needs to be connected. Right now I just have it disconnected because the new seat does not have anywhere to plug it into, but perhaps this is causing the issue? Here is a picture of this second harness on the original 2013 seat.

Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated as my car is now overdue for state inspection and it won't pass with this fault error. Thanks for reading!

With protool is adding RECA to the VO sufficient? I will be removing the pretentioner as well.

I experimented by restoring all settings back to stock and then just selecting RECA, but it was not quite enough. I don't recall which settings were missing for race seats, but a few still had to be changed in addition to RECA.

Bumping this thread since I'll be tackling this myself within the next couple of weeks.

Just to get myself prepared for installing a pair of Recaros and coding the parameters, I wanted to see if anyone who's done this successfully via NCS Expert or ProTools could give me some guidance:

1. Does the coding (listed by the OP) need to be performed prior to taking the stock seats out?
2. Do all of the connectors under the seat stay disconnected after the aftermarket seats are installed, even though I'll be keeping the stock 3-point seat belts?

Thanks in advance!

1. No.
2. Disassemble the yellow plug and plug in the factory seatbelt buckle pretensioner if you are retaining the 3pt and don't code the pretensioner out.

Evening all. I have swapped my bmw e92 335i sests to bmw f80 m3 seats. My car is pre lci but an 09 plate the seats have the white module required to retro fit into an e92.
As expected when I turned the engine on I got all the codes listed above.
I have pro tool and tried to code out but no luck at all. Emailed their support team who have given advice which covered some of the options above.
I'm unclear though am I meant to unplug the sests then code or leave connected.??
No matter what I do the lights persist and I can not clear the codes.
Any help advice or pointers welcome.thanks.

As I mentioned in my post #49, I successfully disabled all codes on my 2013 M3 Coupe.
I repeated the process on a friend's 2010 M3 Coupe, but the seat belt giver/extender arms (or whatever they are called) still try to move out when starting the car.
Anybody know what coding it takes to turn this off?

UPDATE - I figure it out. Thanks to info here:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1610796

In ProTools, it is under
FRM->Coding->Expert->Automatic seat belt hand-over
Then disable ENABLE_GURTBRINGER_FA, ENABLE_GURTBRINGER_BF, GB-TRIGGER_KL_R AND Gb-TRIGGER_KL_15.
The last 2 might not be needed, but this is what worked for me.

Okay so I installed my driver side bucket and retained the oem seat belt receptacle. I coded everything minus the passenger stuff, I’m still getting the airbag light. I also did the +reca in the vo.

So weird thing now is that when I did the ignition cycle my headlights to this weird check lights and drl flashing alternating left and right and saying malfunction on the cic after check is done. It’s never done that before.

Can someone shed some light here please? My tablet was running out of juice so I’m waiting for it to charge and I’ll go back out there and check the frm and see what’s up with the lights.

But I’ve flashed everything back to factory coding for the airbag module and vo.

Also I have the seat belt receptacle plugged into the car harness. I’ve read on here that keeping that unplugged worked for some. I’d want to keep it plug in and working since I’m gonna be using it.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

coding out airbag errors on E90 335i with race seats

This thread was tremendously helpful, thank you rocket_science !

I got a 2008 E90 335i "track" sedan with Racetech buckets and 6 point harness. I kept oem front seat belts and tensioners for the street. Front tensioner cable is plugged to the socket under the seat. Rear seat tensioners removed.

My experience
- I did not code VO (+RECA), didn't want to re-code all the modules
- I only succeeded if I coded against FRM ECU (not CAS), writing to CAS didn't error, but didn't take any effect - stumbled me for a while
- I changed the following to nicht_aktiv via NCS Expert/NCS Dummy following instructions from LMB335IS
, in order they appear in FSW_PSW.TRC:
CC_GURTWARNUNG_1
GURTSTRAFFER_FONDLINKS_1
GURTSTRAFFER_FONDRECHTS_1
OC3_1
SBR_FAHRER_1
SIDEBAG_LINKS_1
SIDEBAG_RECHTS_1
GK/OC3/POL
AACN_1
O_GW_F_1
SBR_BEIFAHRER_2_CD
This might be too much, but I tried to match parameters in my car with original post and additionally disable rear tensioners. No airbag errors/warnings on the dash at the moment.

Below is the whole NCS Dummy export from airbag module (ABG) after the changes were applied.

did it at FRM

here are the codes showing up on INPA
93AA - seatbelt tensioner, passenger
93BA - seatbelt-catch contact, driver
93A9 - belt tensioner, driver
93AD - side airbag, right
93C3 - seat occupancy, passenger

Go through every module (ie airbag, dsc) and clear all existing errors.
