FS: CarboProject carbon fiber plenum
FS: carboproject cf plenum. I purchased this as part of a euro conn ex group buy back in July of '21. It's been on my car for less than 1k miles. It is ceramic coated with Crystal Serum Light and Exo v4. *UPDATE* - finally pulled the plenum off a few weeks ago and found some of the dreaded cracking in the areas under the strut tower braces. It looks like just clear coat cracking (see updated pics in post #13 below). No cracking is visible when the strut tower braces are on. Gloss finish Flat top "Export" version (more induction noise) BMW MPower EDIT: New Price due to discovered cracking - Asking $900 plus shipping (CONUS only). Willing to go a bit lower in price if local pickup. *NEW PRICE* asking $800 + shipping; shipping should be around 125-150 to the west coast. *NEW NEW PRICE* asking $700 + shipping; shipping should be around 125-150 to the west coast. EDIT 2: Additional info - When bought this new, I wasn't happy w/ the finish. There were "specs" of dust in the clear coat on the top of the plenum. I complained to the manufacturer and he made good and refunded me ~ $200 USD. Rather than pull the plenum off, I decided to pocket the cash and did a stage 1 polish (rupes yellow/Sonax perfect finish) and improved the clear coat issues quite a bit. Again this was on the top of the plenum. Due to the angles I didn't touch the areas where it actually cracked. Unfortunately, the manufacturer said I should have had the issue fixed professionally w/ the money he refunded me, and thus, the cracking was no longer his issue. I'm sure if I'd had it fixed he would've blamed it on whomever did the re-clear. Lesson learned on my part, I shouldn't have accepted the money and should've asked for a replacement unit.

Lots of interest but still available. I'll be pulling the plenum off the car later this week. A few folks have asked about cracks developing; upon visual inspection, I don't see any cracks or peeling or anything but I'll confirm when I take it off the car. *EDIT : All pm's replied to.

It definitely should be, tried working w/ the manufacturer but had minimal luck. Still pursuing some options there.
Something else I should note - when bought this new, I wasn't happy w/ the finish. I'll update my original post w/ this info as it is somewhat pertinent.

What strut braces did you have on your car? I have DINAN Strut Braces and the aftermarket Carbon Fiber Plenum would pressed in the braces as the engine warm up. Maybe that what cause yours to crack?

OEM. Actually have pics because the manufacturer tried to blame it on contact. So when I checked, there's plenty of clearance and there were no surface scratches on the plenum or indications of contact. I also painted my STB's to help them "blend in" a bit more and the finish of the paint I used ended up being pretty weak. If I look at the wrong, they'll show surface marring. I checked the STB's right where the plenum cracked and no indications of contact on the STB.

Seems like you have checked everything! I don't know what else to say. I know the gaps on my set up would narrowed by about 1/4" after a long drive. My DINAN Braces had about that much clearance so I made 1/4" shims to ensure the plenum would never touched.

I have the same version of this plenum. I have minor cracks developing on top of the plenum about a year after install. I messaged carboproject and his response was basically to ship it back to him to fix it.

yep, I checked everywhere to make sure there was no contact whatsoever. I've spoken to a few folks that know the clearing process well and they mentioned that the "cure time" was somehow cut short and likely led to this cracking.
