The styling is very unique and reminiscent of previous gen Skylines.

Maybe the paper-thin floor mats are used to cut down weight? Personally I think the interior looks much better than that in the corvettes.

The GT-R will put the ferraris, lambos, and porsches in their places.

Yeah the Z06 sounds insane.
I'd love to see the Z06 and GT-R duke it out in both a 1/4 mile run and some 40-150 runs.
I'd think the GT-R would have the advantage in the 1/4 mile with hard AWD launches and might hold off 95% of Z06 drivers by the time the stripe comes along.

But I'd bet the Z06 pulls 3+ CL's in the 40-150 run.

I'm going to guess the GT-R's trap speed from the 11.7 ET's will be roughly 118-120 mph.
The Z06 also runs high 11's but traps at 123-124 I believe.

No doubt though, the GT-R will draw a bigger crowd at a get together though since they won't be so common, and are brand new.

fyi the Z06 is faster than that, a good bit actually. Bone stock I've seen them trap 128mph at the strip at 11.1 on the stock RFT. They have gotten into the 10's all stock except drag radials. Just beast.

I am also not liking the styling of that car, I'm sure it will be a cult classic though.

I would rather have the Z06 or Z07

and they look better IMO.

I managed to wiggle my way up the gigantic crowd of press people at it's North American debut on Thursday and was the 2nd person to get inside the Nissan GT-R.
The seats and steering wheel feel great, but the console and carpeting and so forth are Nissan Sentra/Altima like.
The floormats were paper thin just to give you an idea of cost cutting.
The gauge cluster has zero pizzaz, and again looked Sentra like.

Yes the car is really big.
It was by far the biggest hoopla of all the North American debuts at the LA Auto Show on Thursday. There were so many press/media people around it.

Anyway, yes, the "premium" edition starts at $71,900 and will probably still have a couple options you can add.

Expect dealer asking prices to be $90K for the first year and probably $5k-8K over for 2nd model year too.

The tunability of that car will be alluring and make it desirable for sure.
But too bad Nissan did not make it better looking.

But I think I'd jump into a Corvette Z06 instead, especially since you can GET a Z06 for $70K.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Z06 with a supercharger and a few other upgrades. Out of the box the Z06 seems to pretty awesome but could easily be made into a super car. I like the 911 for me if I were in this price range. At least GM has been improving the Z06 interior with each model. I thing Honda makes the best interiors for Japanese vehicles. They sort of use a minimalist approach. The rest of the Japanese auto makers seem to use a lot of shinny gadgety stuff that I've never really liked. Too bad the car is so big. I figured it would come in much lighter and with a more refined interior.

Thanks for sharing Dustin. I want my V.2!

The GT-R is really growing on me. I would love to drive a z06 but imho to fully utilize that much power you really need awd. I can't imagine the rate at which you'd melt through tires with a z06.

I saw the GT-R at the LA AUto Show and like it. I was up in the air, but for those who know the history of the SKYLINE it's always been more of an ugly performance car, similar to a bull dog.

It does NOT look plastic in person, and I like the red better than the silver they had at the auto show. For 70K and 0-60 in 3.5...pretty hard to beat that performance.

Those who say it "weighs too much" what other AWD cars do you know of that are "light?"

For me personally, I could maybe afford lunch with the Nissan.
I look at it and then think about having one...
Then I see it again....
The frig'n greasy face and finger marks would cause me to want to cap someone.

I agree. THe scoody is probably going to run 350K and probably be just a little faster than a Z06.

I personally really like the styling, It's really grown on me since I started seeing it in colors other than the silver they first had. Imo red looks the nicest, that with black. As for the interior not looking as nice as a bmw as some of you have pointed out, you guys forgot, this isn't an all out luxury car, its a performance car and does that part well. I really love the in dash screen and its ability to give you all sorts of engine info. I think its an awesome feature for driving enthusiasts.

Man, I can't wait to see one of these in person on the street. You can bet I'll be screaming "holy sh!T!!!" at the top of my lungs lol.

I'm not sure if its right to compare a 4 seater to a 2 seater.

Regardless the GT-R is for the other end of the performance spectrum. The people who don't have mullets.

I love how when comparing this car to a z06, ppl say how a supercharged z06 will destroy it.

But you lil beemer guy have the g35 compared to your 335's and ppl talk about putting twin turbos on them yous have heart attacks how thats not stock and you cant compare the two lma0.
