your 100% WRONG. I saw pics of the X5 and went to BMW training and that is the new automatic trans knob without the leather boot. Where did you get your info from? Also SMG does not have park for your information.

No way that is the final design for the shifter.

yes it is. I have seen pics of it and it will be on the X5. It may look slightly different with a boot and base but it will still have the same knob. You will see.

Is it just me or does the facelift (particularly the wagon) look like someone intentionally tried to tone down the styling and make it more bland?

Thats what I mean - it will look different. The base is from the M5 and the stick is coloured to match it. I think the e60 will have a more 'appropriate' base and the stick will be in a different material - us e60 guys like a bit of wood or metal on our stick

Shape will probably be the same though - but in the finished product it'll look much better

What do you mean the finished product will look much better. This is the finished product it has been revealed in the new x5 photoshoot.

I don't know...I'll have to see it in person to make my final judgement because from the picture I don't like it. My uncle just bought the new 2007 facelifted e-class...the interior of that is mighty fine

What - so the base will be as the M5 and it will only come in silver then?

If that is the case then it's bloody daft.

BMW has pretty much always been a risk-taking company.

Look closer - the knob and the base are different - you may need new specs.

The latest issue (Sept) of Automobile Magazine has a 2 page spy photos of the new re-designed 5 series due in 2009. The front headlights are redesigned losing that cat-eye current design and the rear lights and trunk is also re-designed losing that ugly rear, the spy photos look alot better to me, in fact it has the same character lines running into the door handles on the side that remind me of the 3 series. It doesn't show the interior.
