Next Car...911T or v10 R8?

Only 6 months into my M3 and the way it's modded, it's absolutely incredible. Performance is at a supercar level and yet it feels like like it came from the factory. 7,000 miles of brutal conditions (mainly track and airstrip) and not one hiccup.

Yet it's never too early to be thinking about my next car.

Requirements are simple. It will need to serve as both a track car and an airstrip car (roll-on acceleration events). And it should have 700-800 HP. At these power levels, AWD is a must. I would actually consider something pre-owned...so two years from now when I'm done with the M3, I could be looking at a 2013 model.

The 911T and v10 R8 are main contenders. A GT-R is not an option.

I've seen 911's with turbo upgrades with these power levels. Not sure of R8's but it's an NA v10 and I'm assuming it can be modded with a centrifugal or other S/C but not sure exactly what's out there yet. ??

I was able to meet the guys at Evolution Motorsports and BBi at the Shift-S3ctor events so I'm familiar with the 911T mods/potential/reliability/costs. Just not so sure about modding the v10 R8. And that's what intrigues me. There are many upgraded 750 HP 911T's all over the place but 750 HP R8's? That would be cool...to be a little unique/different.

What do you guys think?

tweaking the Audi V10 to get 700+ horsepower is going to be an expensive endeavor.

TT911 is a much better choice.

if you have the money, a R8 V10 Plus with this power level would be the way to go!!
or maybe just a tuned 991 911TT!

Check out Underground Racing's website. I think they list prices for their upgrades. Would you consider the Gallardo?

Edit: For Stage 1, it's $39,000 for both the Gallardo and R8. With 93 octane, you get 700 HP on both cars. With 117 octane, it's 850 WHP with the Gallardo and 1000 with the R8.

How about become debt free and not owe on anything and have no credit card debt and actually own a $500k home outright with goodies?

LOL Sorry just get tired of "what should I get next" when most are living with folks at home and going to school while working at In and Out Burger.

If you can afford it then go for it but I wouldn't go in more debt if you don't have to.

He's obviously wealthy. So go for it dude!

I have nowhere near the money you can afford to spend for these cars but I will be a happy with a GT3.

How about some pics to spice up this thread a bit? All I can do is drool.

I'd say R8 V10, check AMS, Stasis, Heffner, and Underground Racing. UR race version if you want 1500AWHP... For your need if you like R8, I would think that Stasis Challenge SC would be your best bet with 710HP. Heffner twin turbo makes 850HP (725AWHP). UR makes 700AWHP with stage 1 on 93 so that could be another option. AMS' twin turbo for R8 is new so I'd let them prove the kit first. Would you get the 6 speed? If you have no sense of money, a Reiter Engineering race spec Gallardo would rock the track.

Hi. Thanks guys for the input guys. I should have also mentioned that I don't like attracting too much attention which is why a Lambo is not a good choice for me personally. The P-cars and R8's don't attract as much attention here in OC...but thanks for mentioning this as I now recall the Audi is the same motor in the Lambo's and they've had tremendous success with modding in their platform. The engine bay configuration must be different and not sure how much room there is to get a turbo/centrifugal in there.

Glad AMS has a product now for the R8. Heck, maybe an R8 v8 with the turbo's would get me to my goal. ??

I'm intrigued by the R8. I will definitely ask for questions and do some research, particularly as companies are beginning to mod them. I'll post up my research from time to time.

I know that AMS and UR only do work to V10s. Stasis has a 560HP supercharger for V8. Hefner makes 625HP for V8 with twin turbos.

I thought the answer was pretty obvious -- TT Gallardo.

Long boarder,
I'm still a year + away from something new and like yourself 6 months into my FI M3. I have come to the same conclusions as you regarding AWD being necessary for high HP cars. I think I'm at my comfort limit with the M3. I am pretty set on a UGR TT Gallardo. 1500awhp. 3 second 60-130 times and 8 second 1/4. Would be amazing if they could do this in the R8 as I agree with the Gallardo being flashy...just so hard to beat that type of performance. 911T is definitely an option and if I'm not trying to go balls out straight line the new GT3 with PDK sounds amazing. I've been so set on a UGR TT Gallardo that I think I'd be wanting one if I got something else. Nice choices to have

UR has same engine upgrades for R8 V10 as the G...they may differ a little but the core engine is the same. You just see the G run these times because the Lamborghini will be preferred by most over the Audi.

R8 V8 w/ Stasis would work well. V10 looks / sounds great too, but have heard better things about moding the V8 version. Do some research, I think you might find the same results. 911T would be the easiest to get to higher HPs, but like you said, it's been so overdone and it's not special any longer.

I know you said no Lambo Gallardo, but as long as you get it in black and not fire orange with neon bits, it shouldn't much more extroverted than the R8 V10. You can get the Heffner set-up @ 1000hp and call it a day.

Thanks for the info, need to keep more up to date on them. Damn that is really tempting as a slightly tamer looking choice...

If you're not trying to attract attention get the Porsche. I just sold my M3 and bought an R8. I've gotten more attention in a matter of days than i got in a full year in the M3. The R8 is a chick magnet, dude magnet, kid magnet, older person magnet... go on r8talk.com and check out the "looks and stares" thread. You're kidding yourself if you think it gets none. Figured id throw in my .02 since i own one. Regarding performace, i have no input bc im not interested in modding it. Either choice im sure you'll love it! Good luck!

I have to agree with Vin. R8 are a lot more rare than P Turbos and they always seem to get my attention. Both are amazing cars from the same family. I have always been a Pcar fanatic and I think performance wise you can juice a lot more out of the P Turbo for less $$ than the R8. I have a buddy with a 996TT with upgraded turbos and tune and it was putting down 750hp+ to the wheels. It was silly fast. I love the P turbos especially the 996- 997.1 with the GT1 based engines. They are bulletproof.

On the other hand, R8s are 10 times sexier and are probably a better drivers car since its a mid engine.

you will need to look into underground racing stage 1 for the Audi

700 AWHP on pump gas and 1000 on race gas and it will cost 40K

The easiest and cheapest way to go, (cheapest is relative term lol, still a balls ton of $$), is a 997tt with bigger turbos tuned w/ supporting mods. Easily 800hp
