M3 Help me with my next purchase

I have driven a SLK55 AMG for the past few years and the warranty will be up at the end of the summer. I drove BMW's prior. With the new E93 with DCT I am strongly, strongly considering the purchase of a M3 before the end of the month if possible. Dealership has been slow up here so a good deal can probably be had before month end.

I am considering either the E92 or the E93. I plan to only drive it during the summer. Problem I am having is that the Coupe looks much nicer to me than the E93. That being said I do enjoy the drop top in the summer...

I plan to get one with the full load and would like to know how the DCT 7speed is? I do like the idea of the Auto mode for daily traffic etc... I took an M6 with SMG for a ride and really did not like the SMG. My dealer doesn't have a E90,92 or93 on the lot so I have not been able to try the DCT. I have driven the Audi DSG and found it to be quick and actually very smooth in Automatic.

My question is E92 or E93? Which options are a must? What is the best color combination on either? If you can post me a picture or a link to it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and I look forward to the help and feedback...

i was like you; like the idea of a hardtop convertible, and hearing the m3...but the lines of the e93 do not compare to those fo the e92.
the e92 has a much meaner and more fluid design in my opinion; its a better performer and better looker...i wanted to be able to get some air so i took an e92 with a sunroof...e93 m3 personally lacks in looks compared to the e93. but top down is always nice.
dct is very smooth, when i drove it, i liked it but i am a manual guy. it will feel like a real manual if u want it to- though i found it a tad bit boring.

I would go with the e92. First of all it feels sportier and looks better. If your going to get dct you might as well go get an isf or c63.Get the sunroof and you'll be happy. I hope that helped.

I vote for the E92. While I love convertables, the weight penalty for the E93 is quite high, at least 300lbs

just been reading a long thread regarding transmission lag when rolling thru an intersection of up to a second or more in Auto mode. This would be a rel concern!! any input?

There is a software update for DCT every now and then, and a ton of those problems are fixed. Really its up to you, I just like Manuals and the driver involvement so much more

Yes there is a lag/hesitation in that situation which is annoying, but BMWAG knows about it and should be issuing a PROGMAN fix for it. Otherwise the DCT is simply amazing in either mode

I don't even notice the ~300lb penalty, but with the top down and wind blocker up
