Carplay Head Unit installed, M-button not playing nice?
Hello everyone, I was fortunate enough to acquire a 2009 e92 M3 this spring, and one of the first real projects I've undertaken on it was getting CarPlay in it.
I got the offering from Wakaa, since they seemed to offer the best deal with a back-up camera (which works fine except for being aimed lower than I would like). The actual CarPlay part works well enough, but one of the two issues I have is that when I press the M-button, it swaps back to stock iDrive. I haven't found mention of this particular gremlin anywhere else, and thought I would ask here. Thanks in advance. P.S. the other issue that the wireless carplay doesn't autoconnect, but I'm not 100% sure that isn't my phone's fault anyway. If anyone has managed to get their iPhone to connect automatically with a Wakaa/Andream/whoever else sells the same product out of China, I would appreciate confirmation that it's my phone. |

I had that problem with an android 8 head unit. If I was on the android side of the system(Youtube, Netflix, maps, and so on) and hit the "M" button it would switch the system back to the CIC or iDrive screens. If I put the system back to the android side when in "M" mode and turned M mode off it would stay on the android side. It was a grip for a while then I just got used to it. The funny thing is when I switch to an android 10 unit it went away.

My AvinUSA unit does this as well, you just learn to live with it.

This is how to stop your Android screen from switching back to iDrive when you press the M button:
1. Settings > Factory 2. Password = 1314 3. Vehicle > MODE Key Selection (scroll down) > Disable 4. Done Enjoy! |

Where are you changing this setting? Is this something you can do in Bimmercode?

Sorry to revive this old thread but I have a weird problem. Hopefully, one here can help me.
I installed carplay unit on my e92 m3 manual which has the old CCC to replace a previous Android unit (droid uk) as an upgrade. My car is eqquiped with the M mode package (i do not know exactly how it is called) which has individual settings for power throttle responce, DSC and steering. After installing the new android screen when I press the M button , which I have set for sport plus mode for throttle response, DSC for M mode setting and steering to fast, the car does not "apply" sport plus mode for the throttle response. Instead it defaults to normal power throttle reaponse and i get the green M button on the dashboard. This happens even if power is selected on the center console. So, to sum it up, if i have power on from the button on center control and I press the M button, (where i have selected sport plus mode via idrive), car defaults to standard power (= hence the green M indication on the dashboard). I am pretty sure there must be a setting in the android unit that messes up with this canbus command. Any help or advice will be well appreciated. Thank you. |
