Thanks. I wasnt sure if the plugs from the car or connections into the hardware is all that matters.

In order to retrofit the CIC you need to replace the headunit, iDrive, and screen so theres no way to have a hybrid of CIC and CCC components. So everything that connects would be fine. The only question might be the microphone if they didn't retrofit it.

There is a mic and appears to work. How can I validate the mic is the CIC mic?

Wiring for the MMI prime rear camera should be the same as the carsara box. As long as the RCA cable has a traveler wire for power the those wires both go to the same place in one cable and you can easily get to ground.

Splicing into the rear view light is way harder because you won't get the right voltage. That's an old method used by people who are using emulators that don't deliver 12v power it seems.
Cyberdemon is right, there are two different YouTube videos to show the install and they are very good. One is dedicated to installing the MMI Prime in the center console area, and there is a separate one for installing and routing the e93 backup camera. The MMI kit comes with a longer reverse camera cable since the routing is longer on the convertibles compared to the e90 and e92.

If you have the recommended plastic trim removal tools, and just take your time, you can get it done. Just following the YouTube videos and good to go.

Should be fine then. The Carsara box includes its own microphone anyways if you didn't have one.

It's really not a difficult install - there are several really good Youtube vids.
Just takes a bit of time and patience. If you don't have any tools or time, I'm sure any local stereo installer could handle it easily.

Read their website reviews...clearly written by the same guy.
Let's just say English and grammar is a 2nd language at best.
Not very convincing.

Can't get a signal if you don't have power to turn the camera on. Whatever the case may be for the specific wiring on that unit you can find a switched 12v power source for it. Use a meter to confirm you're getting enough juice.

Advice would be to read this and the Carsara thread below this one for all the information you could ask for then come back if theres something left unanswered.

Just a quick follow-up as I haven't posted in this thread for a while. Everything has been great with my Kremersino v3 unit. Auto-connects every time without issue, audio quality is excellent. Zero complaints.

Hello all,

I’ve fitted the mmi unit to my bmw E91 but getting fault code A468 keep coming up which is

Energy saving mode active / cable break externally /errors in video signal / no LVDS signal

Could this be because I didn’t use the idrive harness because I just plugged A to B

If everything is working OK this is to be expected. The Carsara box intercepts those signals so when the box is switching over the cars systems will register those phantom codes.

You'll see several of these (no connection with Amplifier, and other MULF errors) but they should cause no issues. I tried chasing these down as well when I was having other battery issues, they all cleared as soon as the box was disconnected, but there shouldn't be anything to worry about if it works normally.

It's not to say something is "broken" the carsara works by hacking itself into your cars complex computer network and intercepting those signals and deciding when to replace them with it's own.

As a result, these intermittent connection errors are just your cars way of saying "Hey, something is weird here".

Can't expect much more from an aftermarket solution I'd say, especially since these are all small Chinese ODM's designing and building them.

Installed the Andream/Aiocoai/EWayGPS Carplay Headunit on my CCC-equipped E92 M3. Wireless connection is good and somewhat reliable with respects to automatically connecting. Only weird behavior that's somewhat of a deal breaker for me is that pressing the M button causes the carplay to switch to the original iDrive screen, which disrupts whatever carplay was doing, including stopping the music. I have to then manually re-enter the carplay side by holding the menu button. Really annoying and not something I experienced with my old Joyeauto unit. Wonder if it's something that can be fixed via an update.

Mine does the same thing. When I hit the M button, I have to manually go back to CarPlay. Not a big deal. Hold the menu button for 3 seconds. Don’t think you can have access to both systems at the same time. Doubt this can be fixed in a software update.
