Bimmergeeks Protool - support model experiences?
Hi guys,
not the right subforum I know but wanted inputs on experience from Bimmergeeks product development/request handling rather than the product itself. Been chatting with them over mail regarding implementation of new feature (EDC adaptation reset). They have confirmed this should be possible (they can see the service function available when looking specifically). Apparently the way they develop their product is to do a first implementation on a real car, mine. This would be done remotely. Seems a bit strange that they don't have a pile of local customers cars from development this far but ah well. The communication is somewhat cryptical, no names, no details on plan/procedure. Starting to get cold feet about hooking up an unknown person into both my PC and car via Teamview, and just hope for the best. Anyone who have experiences with the guys and this procedure? Ps. I really like the product so don't get me wrong. Thanks Nik |

Don't have much to comment on Bimmergeeks but...
You don't have any access to ISTA? That's what I used on my unit when I updated to B6 EDC.

TBF it is free... and doesn't require a crazy spec laptop but at least something 8gb of ram and a decent cpu lol.
although the beauty of protools is the fact i just keep a tablet in my glovebox for it haha. but i could do the same with a small 13in laptop.. anyways. as long as you know you're talking to an OFFICIAL protool dev, i don't think there is anything to worry about.

Maybe try posting something in the USA-Southeast regional forum. Perhaps someone local to them would be willing to help out/offer their car. I get why you’d be hesitant, especially with giving someone remote access to your laptop (or if they brick your DME or something).
