Need some opinions - DCT in 3 weeks or June

Hey guys, I just wanted to hear some opinions on the following situation. I am able to get the following car in about 3 weeks (it's on its on the boat right now and will be at the port around March 29th) at MSRP with the following specs:

Coupe
Jet Black
Black extended leather
Cold weather
Carbon roof, interior trim
Tech pkg
DCT
19"
Power rear sunshade
Satellite radio
iPod/USB adapter
Enhanced premium sound

The car I have on order is scheduled for a week 19 production and will probably arrive at my dealership within the 1st 2 weeks of June. The only specs that are different on the car that I ordered were to following (the exterior, interior, trim are all the same color as above):

No Cold weather
Add Heated seats
Add HD radio
Add PDC

The main option I am concerned about is not having the HD radio. Obviously we don't know what the future of this technology is, may bust or become the next big thing. And I know I can always add an aftermarket HD tuner but the clean look of and integration of OEM can never be undervalued. What would you guys do if you were me? Thanks.

I'd take the one coming in now. With satelite radio and USB, you won't be left wanting for music. Plus you'll be able to get the break in done before summer.

With Cold Weather you're covered for the heated seats unless you really didn't want the headlight washers spraying all over the place. You could always pull the fuse for those though.

I like having PDC. Is that really important to you?

I think HD radio is a waste personally. I can't stand radio in general mostly because of the commercials and I'd rather listen to what I want to, when I want to, ie: mp3 player. After reading up on HD radio I don't think it is going to catch on in any big way.

The HD radio is a separate tuner in the trunk. I would think the OEM one could be added by the dealer, although the trunk side panel would need changing as well. Check this thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127340

I'd get the one on the boat, + you would be one of the first to get DCT.

Currently, HD Radio is not available as a dealer offered retrofit. This might change in the future though, but BMW would need to offer a suitable retrofit wiring harness, antenna with wiring and coding instructions to enable the tuner.

You are missing nothing without HD Radio, just wasting $350, IMO. The car in the boat have plenty of other audio options to pretty much over-compensate this missing option anyway.

If you need PDC then you have other problems.

Heated seats are part of the Cold Weather Pack.

Get the one in the boat and be very happy...

Check with Bavarian Soundwerks. They may have the plug in module to give you HD radio.

HD radio isn't a gimmick.

HD radio is the same quality as satellite radio, it just has comercials on it, although the same could be said of Sirius as they tend to talk over songs and advertise for other promotions going on. BMW seems to be the only manufactor really backing this format, but that will all soon change. This will all change starting next year when tv stations are required by law to change formats and drop the analog signals. It will only be a matter of time before radio follows suit and changes from analog to HD as well. Its a new technology and as with all new things it takes awhile for people to realize what it is, how to use it, and if it will benefit them. I can see in the near future the government stepping in and requiring all radio stations to go HD just as they are doing with television, so give it time. The great news...satellite sound quality...and its free!

I'll assume you ordered HD radio because you've never had Sat radio. Once you go with Sat radio, terrestrial radio, loaded with commercials, will be intolerable! The only time I listen to terrestrial radio is for live news and traffic.

PDC.. nyet... you can live without the dimples on the bumper anyway. Since it's a black car, when you wax it the dimples become a PITA and trap the wax and look crappy. Unless you are a professional detailer with a lot of time on your hands!

Cold WX has your heated seats.

So you're all set! DEFINITELY get the one on the boat!!!!

In my mind the only disadvantage is the unsightliness of the headlight washers in the front - otherwise, yes take the one on the boat are you crazy?
