Friend mixed coolants (green and orange) in his Escalade

Despite me telling him not to do it, he did.

He bought a jug of lime green coolant and mixed it in with the "pink" coolant in his truck.

From what I gather, that's all bad.

Anyone have any thoughts? Can he just go to any mechanic and have them flush the system? How urgently does he need to have it fixed?

Thanks!

The truck has green coolant in it and not the GM longlife? Have heard of issues of mixing with GM longlife and gelling.

Edit: and hit "appreciate" for brakes and not breaks.

Run.
It actually is a bad thing

You get a chemical reaction between the two different formulas that can form a gel and do "Bad Things TM" to the engine

I should also point out, if non longlife coolant has been used, the system is considered "contaminated" and he should now expect to replace the coolant following the non longlife service schedule. This is what we have to do at Honda. So, normally every 2-3 years. You can never get all of the old coolant out.

Although, a 1/4 gallon is not that big a deal in that regard.
