I know one of them is the BMW Assist Module, which I do not have. lol I thnk there is another one...and don't recall wtf it is at the moment. Maybe one of the guys with the nice schematics will chime in with a sweet diagram attachment of the trunk modules.

I don't feel any downshift driveline jolt because the downshifts aren't perfectly matched. However, I do think the amount of downshift blip is dependent on which S setting you have selected.

I'm not discounting you have a lot of SMG/DCT experience, I just haven't felt what you're saying.
For example just do a 3-2 downshift when you are coming up to a light, once just braking while downshifting ( should see the needle blip about 100 rpms or so )

then do it again using the heel / toe downshift method and the needle will blip around 500 rpms

You will not only be able to see the difference in downshifting on the tach but feel it as well

I always almost always keep it in S5 and maybe its just me but I like to get more than a 100 rpm blip when Im downshifting from 3-2 at around 40-45mph

I'm driving 355 miles tomorrow, I'll play around with it and try to see what you're talking about.

Just to clarify... are you proposing that DCT is ignoring the downshift under threshold breaking because the engine revs wouldn't be high enough under the system's initiated throttle blip? If so, don't see how it could be rev related as breaking would just seem to lower the rev requirement vs. a steady state downshift request.

I am simply suggesting that its something worth trying, since it is the only way to truly get a full rev matched downshift from the M3.

But as a couple of other members have mentioned , their ABS is kicking in and it seems like that is what is giving the problem with drivelogic

I can say in my case it is not ABS related as I was not cycling the ABS when DCT ignored my downshift command. In fact I was braking at approximately 90-95% when DCT downshift command was ignored.

yup had this happened to me as well today, under intense breaking, it just ignored my downshift on the paddles ... no ABS

Question for you both: is the effect the same in all DSC modes: On, Off, and MDM?

Another delay. My SA said he does have a M-DCT software update but that it will NOT correct "all" of the current known glitches. He also stated that there will be an update available "online" within a month that will correct all of the glitches. Oh well better late than never. Good for me I guess being too busy for any track time.

Does anyone with a MY 2009 DCT have this problem?

My car is a Wk 36 Build that is somewhere in the Atlantic and I wonder if BMWAG has fixed it in the new MY cars, but is struggling to create an acceptable SIB

My new 09 is due to dock tomorrow in Charleston, can anyone find out if the new cars are subject to the software update? or do you think the update came pre installed as an 09.

UPDATE

UPDATE

Talked to Service at SDBMW today and was told that update would now not be available until OCT/NOV THIS is NOT the way to treat early buyers (Maybe they are waiting for a Bail Out plan. I am now looking for mine.)

that plain and simply sucks - I have to think about canceling my remaining track days for now and wait until BMW fixes the problem...really starting to get pissed off big time, since I can't use the car for what it was intended to be used for

kinda off topic, but have you ever tried a lap in D mode?

I do, and so far I thought it woud be a wasted lap if driven in D, but I'm still interested in how it would work.

BTW, C&D said they got their fastest lap times in D mode due to the lack of downshift in the manual mode. The car will downshift faster (if you include the time lost due to a lack of downshift) in D mode vs. manual mode.

So the car can do a frickin' downshift - just got to get the software right!

I just checked BMW TIS and there is nothing new listed for the M-DCT since the fluid replacement fiasco.

Checking Progman, version 31.1 is the latest release, but it doesn't tell me when it was released. It looks like it is applicable to the E90.91.92.and 93.

Under the trunk mat is the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) and the Sirius Satellite Radio Tuner (if optioned)

In the left of the trunk is Audio amp, HD Radio Tuner and CD Changer (again if optioned).
