Does that somehow make you superior? Because for someone who's self praise is so high you don't seem to understand a simple process like copying files to a USB drive. Sorry I tried to help the "cool" people in here with the process and laugh at the ones that ask questions that have been repeatedly answered in this thread. Guess you're too lazy to read the thread or search the forum or google or learn how to work on a computer. Enjoy your lovely M3.

...oooh, so predictably sophomoric! The inane reply indicates you discern the answer to your query.

Updated my car on the way home from work yesterday, it was so much faster then last year update. Took about 35-40mins to finish the update would have been faster if our car supported USB 3.0

Thanks again to WayneM3 & Sergej

Anyone know the differences between 2012 and 2013? I installed 2012 a few months back. Just wondering if it's worth upgrading. Please chime in.. Thanks.

Wanted to note another successful update. And the "code man" was easy to deal with. Took all of 2-3 minutes to get code. Just a side note.....I opted for the BMW USB media. It's on a nice Lexar 32GB "jump drive"................Phil

The Lexar drives are awesome. Fast, compact, light and even support booting directly from them if you ever do advanced computing. I have several of them and they rock. I'm guessing they gave you an S70? They retail for about $30 so if you got it preloaded with the maps for $50 or less it was totally worth it. Especially if you don't want to deal with DL 22GB.

I use Verbatim DVD - R last year, you should just update 2013 maps with a USB stick its a lot faster

Just updated from 2009 map to 2013 map(My M3 is 07/2009 built).
Now I have a lot more 3D buildings in 3D map view.

Before getting FSC code from siera5, test map files using 32gb Sandisk USB that I got for $10 on last black friday to see the update screen.
Worked perfect and took about 45 mins. for update.

Thanks guys!

I want to upgrade but I don't trust that the improvements are sufficient. Can anyone tell me if Hampton Inn shows up in Kayenta, AZ or Moab, UT? What I have to do when looking for a hotel while traveling is search on the iphone and then enter that address. And sometimes, the nav system doesn't know the streets and these aren't new streets. Thanks in advance.

Just updated my navigation to the 2013 version! Took about ~45-50 minutes and I just drove around because my car didn't seem to recognize the USB until the car was actually turned on. Big thanks to kmarei for hosting and sergej (*****************) for the FSC code!

I tried updating using the USB drive multiple times but it wouldn't load the update screen. Formated FAT32 and files in the root of the drive. I have Sandisk Cruzer, should I try Lexar?

Does the USB drive recognize music on the thumb drive? FWIW, my glovebox USB was dead when I tried to do my last update and required service at the dealer to get it working again. There was at least one other member with a similar issue. After they dealer replaced it the update was easy.

If you can load music, then it may be the drive or the NAV files. If nothing loads, then you may want to check the USB interface.
