Wiper blade arm confusion...
Confused....did they change the wiper blades for 2011.5s???
Here are my wiper blade arms: Here is the 2011 Service manual with the same wiper blade arms: However it appears that some have arms with caps and the wiper blades for them do not fit mine....... I was ordering some Bosch wipers but it appears that Bosch and the Vendor I was working with ( ECS tuning) believe everyone has the ones with the caps??? BEWARE...or you will be filling out forms and sending them back ....which is much more annoying than the chattering POS OEM wipers .. Last edited by M3-S65; 05-24-2014 at 07:02 PM.. |

Be careful if you order aftermarket blades like Bosch because the Vendors have no F-ing idea. They think everyone has the capped version. Which I believe most do...except a select few in 2011...perhaps in 2011.5 when things changed?

I am thinking about picking me up a hobby car. This car is just too expensive and too sensitive to risk it...
I got my eye on a 2010 cobalt SS turbo charged...260 HP with 260 Ft/lb torque. Quarter mile under 14 seconds, Cost maybe 15k...they did Nurburgring in 8:22 bone stock..what is that 17 seconds slower than the M3?? You can pick up HP tuners and do tons of mods on em to make them faster for the same price as a axel back exhaust with a M3... You dont have to care when a rock spits out and hits it from the truck in front of you...or it getting ripped off...or stupid windshield wipers...lol |

I did some checking on realoem. Surprisingly, it does seem there was a change in wipers around Sept 2009. For the old design, the part numbers for right arm, left arm, and wiper blades are 61617171639, 61617171641, 61610427668 respectively. For the new design the numbers are 61617253386, 61617253397, 61612159627 respectively.

They show...61612159629 as the part number for 09 + ...but the BOSCH ones they sent me are completely the wrong size... So the bottom line is ....go to BMW and buy some OEM ones at the dealership to confirm that they fit otherwise you will spend a day trying to figure it out and you ...wont. Another BMW...no way...boring...
I actually like front wheel drive cars I used to own a Dodge SRT4...turbo charged...they are completely different from naturally aspirated and rear wheel drive cars. I want something different...ugly looking and mean. Bring me back to my teenage years of grease and grime in a hot garage.... Also...lets see, the E46 did the Nurburgring in .8:22. The Cobalt SS did it in ..8:22.... I found a 2010 Cobalt SS turbocharged for 13,500 with only 7k miles!! A BMW E46 cost around 25k if you get one in good shape.... Tons of aftermarket support, tons of parts, all american made = CHEAP, I can buy HP tuners and tune it myself, do everything myself, learn, enjoy....blow the engine ...I'm out 13k not 25k... Shade tree mechanic and tuners dream.. On top of that get this guys...it comes with a RPD reconfigurable Performance Display OEM from the factory....monitors A/F ratio, spark advance, cam phaser angles, Knock retard.. Okay that makes sense they got the OEM part number correct. The problem is they were ordering me Bosch wipers not OEM....so when they tried to buy the Bosch it got confusing for them.... In fact when I go to the Bosch website and looked up wipers that will fit...they have no pictures etc confirming the size etc. They also have multiple different codes and when I look them up the dimensions are wrong.... So if anyone with the different wipers like mine ever got Bosch blades that fit -let me know the part number ...I think....they are part numbers 4842 and 4837 - Evolution.....researching... Part Number: W0133-1904975??? On the Bosch site they are not even on there...I think they are discontinued...but I found them at a auto parts store online and they look the appropriate size...
I think....I am going to buy them for the sake of others, and to beat the BoSCH riddle..LOL |

LOL....these are actually extremely easy to take off. Press both the side clips inward...push forward and tilt...done...easy to remove. Easy to find OEM, Hard to find BOSCH....

Pretty much every Pep Boys in my area stocks the correct Bosch ICON blades for my E90. And yes, the E90 is different because the windshield has a different shape, curvature, and angle.

Okay I bought these....
http://www.partsgeek.com/ss/?ssq=Bos...=2011&model=M3 3rd one down...clearly for the 2011 M3 E92 2011 BMW M3 Wiper Blade Set - Bosch W0133-1904975 They fit, the problem is that the drivers side is 24 inch which is the same as OEM. But the passenger side is 16 inch, unlike the OEM 18 inch. Maybe they made them this way....maybe they didnt... The BOSCH part number on the box is A579-S Aerotwin.. I got a call into BOSCH USA to confirm if these are the correct ones and why they are 2 inches shorter on the passenger side. |

By the way the bouncing chattering wiper blades are gone. I also tried to see if the extra inch or two difference on the passenger side, made a difference in the coverage and I could not see any area on the window not covered by the blades....so far I am happy...
I will let everyone know what Bosch says... |

Good to know. I would probably buy inexpensive one online aftermarket as well. It isn't a performance part.
