It does text-to-speech. Mildly amusing to hear your Facebook wall get read back to you. Approaching useless in practice.

Having RSS news feeds read to you is kind of nice.

It was fun to fire off pre-canned FB updates that read things like "On my way to FRANKFURT AM MAIN with 47km to go", using the data from the nav. I can see that as somewhat useful if you're going to meet your friends somewhere and you're running behind.

$250 was cheap enough to add without a second thought, although I wouldn't lose sleep if I didn't have it.

lol, it would be amusing listening to how the voice would say the slang...lol Your dicatations can all be accomplished with a voice recognition feature on a cell phone. But you're right $250 in the gran scheme of a $75k car is a drop in the bucket.

I got it for the Pandora interface and completely love it as I literally use it everytime I get into the car. How ever Ive never used it for anything else and like mentioned above, if you need to be using twitter or facebook while driving then you really shouldnt be on the road driving.

Using Apple bro sorry. All in all for $250 bucks Id just get it. Everyone has different opinions. Some love it like myself, as it fits my need of having a seamless interface with Pandora and others hate it.

Only good thing about it IMO is the Pandora integration. But the second you use something on your phone it closes. In terms of the other features, facebook, twitter, etc.. pretty useless I think, especially since you have to have the connected drive app open for it to work, or everything closes.

Combox + BMW Live/Online activation is a better way to go.

Does the online activation require a paid subscription? I'm trying to find out how to access the web browser.

Not with our activation. In fact, it does more than the US spec paid $200 convenience plan does. You get Google Street View, News, Weather, Google Local Search, + a bunch more and a web browser. No yearly commitment as it gets the connection via bluetooth tethering off your cell phone.

You can see what the internet/live activation looks like here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=748534
