I had thought about that! But the sound is decent enough, and I'm not enough of an audiophile to bother. Plus I have a loud exhaust. Lol

Head Unit MOST Pins Pushed In - No Warning Tones or Sounds

Just a heads up in case someone has the same issue installing the AVIN or any other procedure that involves removing and/or re-installing the head unit plug.

2011 E93 M3 Top HIFI system.

I had to bring it to the dealer, it took them a while to figure it out.
Turns out the MOST Fiber Pins coming out of the back of the Radio were pushed into the head unit. They were able to take the radio apart and push them back out. So now I know somehow the AVIN connector/splitter that plugs into the head unit with the MOST cable moved to it, somehow pushed the head units MOST connection in.

Been very frustrating, now it makes sense.

Picture included I hope this helps someone, if you know other places to post please do.

Thank you,

Does this support Android auto?

I ask because I would not want to have to turn on the Hotspot on my phone every time I get into the car to use this with waze or any other apps requiring wifi.

Also, is there a diy for installing a front camera?

How good is the rear camera this comes with resolution wise?
Also does it install in the same place the factory rear camera goes?

It does not natively support Android Auto. You can do screen mirroring of your phone to the device tho, so that would solve your problem.

You can use the DVR channel for front cam. That's what I did. Not sure about DIY.

The newer Android 9 units have an internal SIM slot. So the unit could technically be your car wifi hotspot.

As per Avin support, the car play dongle supports Android Auto as well, however you will need to plug your phone in, it can not be used wirelessly.

Also, the units do not have sim card slots.

Not sure about the AVIN units. Some of the new China Android 9 units with 8-core Snapdragon 625 come with 4G SIM slot.

Here's one. Only the Android 9 8-core Qualcomm version supports 4G SIM.

I just ordered an android 10 version and the aux cable that usually gets wired to the arm rest has a place to plug it in the harness! Also i noticed in the fachory settings there is an option for aux auto switching. Im trying to see if its possible to send audio without the aux center console involved now? I watched a youtube video where a guy in an e60 was able to not route a cable to the aux and pass it via the harness.

I have to use the Aux in the center console. I could not get sound any other way. I adjusted the aux volume to the best setting and just left it there. Hope this helps.

Pls update here. I'm keen to see how this works and if sound quality is better than Aux in the armrest.

So it's the same as before - sends audio thru the Aux port inside the arm rest?

Oh ok. So audio-in is still Aux, but there is an extra Aux input jack at the wiring harness and you don't need to pull a long aux cable all the way into the center arm rest. Got it. That would simplify install somewhat. 👍

There's no need. Tune2Air also goes thru Aux. It's no difference. With this Android headset you can BT stream thru the Android itself (via Aux), or thru original iDrive (digital). If sound quality is a major concern, just BT stream thru iDrive BT interface and switch to Aux when u need audio from the Android side (when using Waze, etc).

If you have CCC, then you can BT stream audio thru the Android head unit only (via Aux). Sound quality will be same as Tune2Air which is also via Aux.
