Hood sensor..

Hey guys. I have a aftermarket hood and I guess the car reads that my hood is open. Sometimes when I park it outside my alarms goes off randomly. People are telling me just disconnect the hood sensor but I don't know where its located..

Can someone tell me where its located?
thanks !

I had the same problem. You don't need to disconnect it, EAS told me that they just put a piece of tape on the sensor so that it thinks the hood is down. With that said, I have no idea where it is located. The problem went away and I never checked for the tape.

I would suggest PMing Tom at EAS.

Other than it's black like everything else in the engine compartment, it is pretty obvious if you get in there and look around. Here's a pic - sorry I didn't flag it but it's the button looking piece about in the middle of the picture. It's on the driver's side up near where the hood intake mates with the air filter assembly.

Just tape it down. It will trick the car into thinking the hood is down.

The part is on the driver's side cabin air filter housing.

It you steam clean or detail your S65 engine bay (using too much Meguiars Hyperdressing), this hood alarm sensor might fail. It might just need to be blown dry with some air. Air pump at the local gas station or can o' air might do the trick. I read that if you disconnect the electrical connector or just tape the button down...problem solved. Since it is related to the alarm, disconnecting the switch might make thing worst.

Cheers
