Have to do this at least once or twice, damn the excess wear and tear. Makes a lot more sense on a DCT to me though and I think I read that to get this on a manual it needs to be part of a tune.

You can launch your car without launch control. I have launched every car I have ever owned and none has had launch control. Launch control just takes all the skill out of launching so anyone can do it.

You can learn how to drag race. A good launch without a computer setting everything up for you, is much harder than most people think. And yes, you can break stuff, especially as you try to launch harder and harder in stickier and stickier tired. I have broken driveshafts, transmissions, clutches and differentials. Knowing to lift upon the first sense of axle hop will help preserve the drivetrain.

On these cars, launch control just spins the tires really really hard unless you're on a prepped drag strip anyway. I get the fun but...

Our E63 has LC as well. It doesn't feel any quicker than a hard step-off from idle because it pulls so damn much boost to keep from breaking stuff

[QUOTE=///M Power-Belgium;26211705]Launch Control ? All day long ..."Let's do 50" Issues ? "ZERO" !

Modern P-cars are amazing! As the first generation e92 M3 owners age out of their cars, I see them moving on to the P brand more than the BMW brand.

Yes mate . Couldn't agree more . But for a 992 Turbo-S . $205,000 is required , with some options $250,000 !
So. Maybe later..... => https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...ld-spec-price/

It is fun. It puts a smile on your face. Setting it up is fun, the checkered flag popping up is fun, pinging off of 4,500 rpm is fun, lighting up your tires is fun, hooking up is fun, not knowing which it's going to be is fun.
That's the point. The point of owning this car is because it's fun, not practical.
No one here is missing the point. All of us with DCT have tried it. Is it bad for the car? Yes really bad if it translates to wheel-hop which it often does. It also wears out your rear tires. Is it fun sometimes? Sure. Necessary? On a prepped strip with heated DRs. Better ways to launch the car? Absolutely.

Probably one of the reasons my clutch is on its way out... racing starts on 295s.
