Question Help Needed On Buying Video Card

what is the best bang for the buck video card i can get that will work with my mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121262 ?

i don't want to spend too much just need a decent one that can play WOW, CS, unreal tournament 3, fortress 2, etc good.

is it true that PCI-E 2.0 cards are only compatible with the older PCI-E 1.1 spec and NOT 1.0 cause based on the newegg spec sheet for my mobo it shows i have pci-e 16x. is that even a pci 1.0 lol?

That, my friend, is a very vague question in the world of graphics cards.

I'll direct you to first read through this thread.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160017

Check out newegg.com regularly. Also check out this page:
http://www.resellerratings.com/deals.pl

Alot of the time they will have graphics cards of some sort listed on that deals page. But be careful, READ THE FINE PRINT and make sure ALL the specs match up.

If you want a newer card, but still want a deal. Probably should look at the new ATI cards. I'm more of a Nvidia guy myself, but ATI has some excellent cards (In some cases better than Nvidia ) for very cheap.

Most of the info you are looking for is in that other thread though. GL

If he did, would that be the thread that you actually contribute to?

Yeah, I know the feeling. I built my first computer around 6 years ago. After I built it, I was happy and content. And over time just stopped following computer parts. Well the time came when I needed a new system so I had to re-learn what all the current stuff was. Took about a month of hardcore forum skowering to learn what I know now. So after I built this computer I'm trying to stay more in the loop.

And yes, PCI-E is reverse compatible. But if you plug it into a pci-e v1.0 slot you may experience bottlenecking if it is like a 4x or 8x slot and not a 16x. But I don't know this for a fact, just something to be aware of.
