Who does Rod Bearings in the Milwaukee/Chicago Area?
Hello All,
I am looking for recommendations on a reputable shop that has experience doing RB's for my 2008 M3. I am willing to travel a little to take it to the right place. Thanks in advance!! Sam

Will you PM me quotes that you received and perhaps update the thread with your experience/final decision?

Eric at E-Fab is awesome. He did some maintenance work as well as installing a StopTech kit in my old M3.
You could also try Fall-Line. They are not cheap but they are a top-notch shop. I don't know if they have experience with rod bearings, but judging by the work they do for race cars and their overall BMW focus, I think they're capable of handling it. Fair warning: they can get very busy during certain parts of the race season.

I am going to call around and see what I can find out. I am most interested in the overall package and then the price. I know EAS charges $2,395 for the following:
Services Performed - Inspect/Replace Rod Bearings - Install Upgraded Connecting Rod Bolts - Inspect Rod Journals - Inspect Oil Pump nuts - Inspect Clean/Flush Oil Pan for debris - Collect Oil Sample for Analysis - Autologic QuickReport (determines required updates & scheduled maintenance) - One-on-One inspection report Items included - WPC Treated Rod Bearings - ARP Connecting Rod Bolts - OEM BMW Oil Pan Gasket - Oil Change & Filter Change - Blackstone Oil Report Optional Services - Replace Spark Plugs - 240E Software Update They are in Cali so that is not an option but a very nice price for the services performed. |

How about IND-Distribution / Zima Motorsports / Fluid Motor Union?
I am debating either for my rod bearing service.. Price was around 1800-1900. IND was 2,200 I believe with OEM bearings..

IND is probably one of the most reputable shops / stores on these forums if you haven't heard of them yet. And the others are local to me and work on high-end cars. Zima tracks their cars for a living and some M4 acquaintances go there. Fluid did work on my buddy's X6M and I go there for car shows a lot. So It's just about finalizing the decision for me. I should be calling them to set up an appt time soon. Give either shops a call and see what prices are / what bearings they recommend if you want.
Hope this helps!

Getting them done at Zima ASAP. My auto shop is actually not too far from them.. I dont have time at all to do this myself so I think im sending it to them real soon. They also have an open house at their shop this weekend if anyone wants to check them out!

Got a quote from Zima for $1,959. This included labor and "treated rod bearing upgrade kit" and ARP bolts. Not sure if this includes all the other inspection services FRNTHVY mentioned above.

Do any of these shops use BE bearings? Has anyone gotten quotes for just labor on installing customer-provided BE bearings/bolts?
