Thermostat question

Can anyone tell me if i need to purchase a new Thermostat housing if i want to replace a thermostat (P0128 code appear) and water pump on 2013 E92 M3 Coupe? I have coolant thermostat and water pump with aluminum impeller in my shopping cart but not sure if i need to replace the housing too.

Thanks in advance

I replaced mine and didn’t have to replace the housing. The tstat pops out of the housing.

You do not need to replace the housing. Just replace thermostat and gasket thats all.

As everyone said, you don’t need to replace the housing..make sure you replace 4 gaskets that come with thermostat kit (if you order from ECS tunning)

I just did the thermostat itself but while there I replaced the (4) O-rings on the two plenum pipes that connect to the housing. Anything beyond this would be extra credit lol

Just be sure to scotchbrite or use a brass/bronze brush to clean off the sealing surfaces. There are some great links in the DIY section with details.
