Planning preventative rod bearing change, what else should I do?
2009 e92 M3 65,000 miles. Daily driver. Zero track time.
I plan on keeping the car for a long, long time. So, for peace of mind I'm planning on having the rod bearings done. My question is: are there any other preventative maintenance items that I should go ahead and do at the same time since the engine is already going to be taken apart? Since a large portion of the rod bearing job is labor cost I was looking for items to get done "since we're already here". Items that might be quicker/easier/cheaper to go ahead and do at the same time. Many Thanks John

Motor mounts would be an easy one.

Yeah. You have to do 80% of the labor of a rod bearing change to get to the motor mounts. And they are cheap. And they generally wear out every 30k miles or so.

Motor mounts should be parts only, don't pay any additional labor for those when done at the same time as RBs.

parts replaced
which bearings did you decide to install?
I know you're doing rod bearings so do them and the motor mounts, but here is a list of other things you might need based on your mileage. thermostat water pump both bank's TA alternator is a must, you cant have much left on the brushes at all. (buy the valeo $275 fcp lifetime replacement) never worry about it for another 70K plugs every 30k all coil packs at your mileage. leaking valve covers both drive belts fuel breather valve. fuel low pressure sensor. rear diff fluid intake filter brake flush check broken, missing rear diff bolts.

If you ever considered doing headers, now would be the time since it also requires dropping the front sub-frame so that will save you a decent amount of labor.
