I'll give you Barca flopping, but the fact is Madrid were not playing the game to begin with. Their was no attacking prowness that they are capable of. Barca deserved to win regardless of their antics. That and Messi's solo goal was absolutely amazing.

Some teams are more defensive and counter attack..now would Barca have won the game anyways..maybe.

Messi's goal was incredible but RM did only have 10 men on the pitch...not sure it would have mattered though the way he motored around everyone..lol great stuff

RM definitely has a great counter, but I don't see them as a defensive team. They have one of or the best front line right now. Mourinho should have started either Higuan or Benzema alongside Ronaldo and pushed up more. Just my thoughts. I would have liked to see more attack from them which we will see in the second leg if they can pry the ball away from Barca. I think Iniesta will start that game to help with keeping the ball.

let me interject here, since little_titto is obviously not a big fan of Madrid:

Both teams did a terrible diservice to the soccer fans around the world with that pathetic display...BOTH!

Let me start with my team: Mourinho made his worst tactical decision thus far by playing so defensively at home for over 1/2 the game, trying to attack the last 20mins. I understand his strategy, and we all saw Kaka ready to come in when the Red card to pepe happened, but nonetheless, it was his fault and madrid's fault for allowing this. He should've put pressure from the get go, specially with barca low in bench players. And marcelo and DiMaria's barca-esque like diving had me sick to my stomach! I hope mourinho disciplines them for being a couple of f@ggots.


on the Barca side: well, where do I begin with this absolutely disgraceful showing of theatrics and their version of "anti-football"... We all saw what a pile of horse excretion the likes of pedro/busquets/alves are with all the cheating and diving and grasping of the face. But of particular note is the hyena clan tactics of all barca players hounding the ref to get someone carded, to the point that valdes had to run 40 yrds to join the disgraceful spectacle!
THIS is the real barca.... the club that, rather than enjoy their brilliant football, has to resort to this low-life acting to get others sent off in an attempt of superior numbers! They did it with inter, they did it with arsenal, and all year with madrid. Against the sportings and villareals of the world, they play fine, but against big teams, their theatrics and their goal of getting 11 vs 10/9 is ther primary purpose....disgusting!

two things are clear for me:

* If Mourinho doesn't change his attitude and his approach in football with Real, I hope he leaves (as much as that would hurt me from a consistency and project standpoint). He is not doing Real's rich history and traditions any favors, specially with his comments. I also hope that we get rid of players who are not giving 100% for the shirt and leave it all out there. We need more players like Pepe and Ramos and Casillas, who BLEED merengue.

* Barca's facade as "the fair team" or "Team UNICEF", is finally over...thank god! And I hope that in our loss, we were able to show the world what a buncha lying, crying, cheating, pieces of sh!t these cules really are. If ManU and Barca end up in the final, which is the most likely scenario, I really hope ManU rips them a new one, and I hope busquets and alves come out with a broken leg out of it.

With two of the world's top clubs going at it on such a hyped and watched event, it's really sad what happened. It really made Spanish football look bad, and with some saying they tend to flop a lot already, well that did not help. I generally only watch English football and this convinced me to continue that habit.

it was a total disgrace, from both sides!!!

The kings of europe, the club of the XX century, playing like a small club in their own home in a Semifinal of a UEFA champions league game, with no attack, and too aggressive.

The "best team in the world" with the "best player in the world", having to play tici-taca with 76% posession in their own half (can anyone say THIS is antifootball?), constantly crying and acting, provoking fights at halftime from their bench, and having to resort to classless play acting to get people booked in order to win.

Pathetic!

Even though I am a Madrid fan for 40 years, I hope ManU ends up winning this and putting an end to the pathetic yearend both of these la Liga teams have decided to finish on.

Just a small correction. I do like Madrid. I enjoy watching them play. I was just disappointed that they didn't bring it to Barca. I hate defensive Madrid. I will admit I am a Barca fan, but I agree that their theatrics were disgraceful.

In the end I don't think Barca need to get someone sent off to win the big games. For example the 2009 final against Manchester United they picked them up apart like Man U were just some low level club.

I am a big fan of both Man U and Barca. The fact that they both don't go and spend half a million dollars to put together fabulous teams is what I enjoy. So that potential rematch gets me excited

The biggest bitch of all of them is Ronaldo. He dives on every ball possession. Its true though the last games were ugly and full of flopping around. Pretty sad.

Ronaldo is by not the worst diver by a long shot; i was worried some of those Barca players might hurt themselves by rolling on the floor like they were tumbling down a steep hill.
