Anyone tried ...?

Anyone tried Turtle Wax Black Box?

I almost feel bad for asking because it is not the over the top expensive stuff like Smart Wax, Chemical guys ect...

Reviews seems to be alright ...?

FlameSuit Ready...

Thanks

It will probably look good after applied, but likely won't last long.

I'd opt for something else. You don't need to spend a lot.

It'll probably be an ok wax but I bet it won't perform as good as others. Nothing wrong with the cheap waxes but I feel like that's just too cheap

I've seen it do wonders for scratches because of the black tinting it leaves behind. For that alone, it could be useful. I agree that the "wax" itself won't last long and re-application in frequency will be required.

I know I don't have to spend a lot, but what else is it you'd opt for?

Meguiars nxt is a good choice. I think using a glaze then wax is a better idea. Popular is cg black light then Pete's 53. Cg just came out with a new wax supposedly just for black cars. They have that wax and black light as a bundled deal

Depends what you want really. The black box looks to be a 2 part system, cleaner/glaze plus wax. The glaze will fill imperfections rather than correct them and soon be washed away.

Lots of choices out there, but I'd use something like XMT 360 http://www.autogeek.net/xmt-360.html or http://www.autogeek.net/poorboys-polish-blue.html

Then follow up with a wax http://www.autogeek.net/collinite-in...r-wax-845.html

Whatever you use, I'd clay first and anything applied by a machine will prove easier to apply with better results.

If you have minor paint imperfections, you should be polishing them out (either DIY or pay a good detailer to get them out), not covering them up with filler waxes. This is just my thoughts though.

I'm not a brand baby, but a lot of the stuff out there in Walmart and other auto stores is total junk. There are also many waxes out there that are very good and aren't expensive at all either.

I also say try it and see if you like it. I've never looked into it personally. What I will say is that it's only going to temporarily hide the real problems with your paint (and very temporarily at that).

Some of the best waxes are actually the cheapest ones, like Collinite 915/845. Turtle Wax on the other hand has shown poor durability in tests that I've seen elsewhere.

Thank you for the answer.

But with at those relied... I currently am a fan of Meguiars stuff. (it smells good) and I get great results.

Look how sexy that orange peel is...

But I'm getting bored and want to try something new as I know theres more out there. I just wanted to see where the Turtle Wax Black stuff ranks against fellow forum members and enthusiasts. See if anyone really have tried this amazing box all for $20 bucks.

But I will definitely try the XMT and 845 when i run low on my stuff or perhaps, I'll just get if now...

I will be trying Leatherique Leather Products too... I've seen the results. Amazing!

Thanks you again sensi09 for the suggestion...
Thank you eclipsisNA for answering the question

Over the counter stuff works... it just doesn't work as well. Usually the durability of the wax is measured in weeks where a quality sealant will last for months and months.

They are cheaper for a reason, it's because the average car owner doesn't want to spend more than $20 on a wax from the store. Because of that they make products that are in that range and don't last as long so people will buy more. Every now and then they come up with a product that is marginally better and everyone is wow'd by it... when such things have already existed in the higher end products for years.

For my suggestion on something for black cars that can hide some light scratches and is very durable, try GTechniq C2. I've been using it for a year and it always looks great and lasts 4-8 months between applications. Usually long lasting sealants don't have fillers and stuff with fillers don't last long. This does both. It is mostly sold in the UK but I've seen it at some US vendors. Kinda pricey at $90 for a 500ml bottle but that bottle will last you a good 5 years or longer. You can spray onto the car to apply.. but much better to spray into applicator to apply so you don't use a lot of product.

It's great for soft finicky paints like Jet Black. I swear I'll never get a Jet Black car ever again...
