1200 mile service + MDCT

Is is still necessary to mention to the service dept. that the transmission fluid should not be changed in the MDCT tranny when taking it in for the 1200 mile service? Or have all dealerships figured this out already? Is there anything else I should mention when taking my MDCT in for the 1200 mile service?

Do this so that you don't insult his or her intellengence: Ask if they are going to change the tranny fluid? If they say yes, you call in the Cavalry.

i think a better question is "what is going to be performed at the 1200 mile service?" Asking "are you going to change the tranny fluid" kind of begs towards a "yes" response.

That's what I did... innocently asked, "so what exactly do you do for this 1200 mile service? He listed the few things they do, then, without me saying anything, kind of smiled and said, "and no, we won't change the fluid in the DCT". He knew exactly why I was asking. I just smiled and said, "That's all I wanted to hear".

Pardon my ignorance since I am really new to the M3, but what happens if they change the fluid?

If i remember correctly, there were a few situations where the dealership replaced the fluid with the 6MT fluid. The car would start throwing errors almost immediately, and in 90% of cases i believe the only solution was to get the tranny replaced.

Can someone list (or show me a link where I can find the information) exactly what is done during the 1200 mile service for a M-DCT car?
