Extended leather excessive wear question
Hello,
This is for those who own e9x with extended leather. I noticed that the extended leather is part of the door handles and wondered how well it holds up to daily use; hand sweat etc.. Has anyone one experienced excessive wear or water damage from opening your door in the rain or any other noticeable wear? When I say water damage, I’m talking about getting caught in a heavy rain storm and you needed to run out of the car into the office or supermarket. My definition of excessive wear= cracking, easily torn, stitching issues. Thanks in advance, |

You need to worry much more about the seats than the door handles etc. Driver's seat obviously gets a lot of use so it wears the quickest. I have no noticeable wear on my door handles or other areas like the dash...

Thanks for the info about the dash, I was worried about that too. I have a 2006 E90 and I know about th wear on the driver's seat. The wear is only on the left side of the support, my other seats look brand new. |

There's actually leather on the handles themselves?
Driver seat butt and bolster interface is where you will have most wear. You need to clean and condition the leather once a year to retain factory conditions |

In either case, as mentioned above, the seats wear the quickest, especially the side bolsters.

I've had mine get wet many times from rain. Drive through fast food and I also lower my window to use a security card to open the gate into my work. I usually have a small towel behind the drivers seat for such occasions. Over 4 years and shows no sign of any problems. Seat will wear out faster.
