Need some advice on a possible purchase tomorrow
I am looking at a 08 M3 M/T coupe with Premium/Tech package and backup sensor in Melbourne red with CF roof. I got it down to $41,500. Car has 14k miles on it, 1 owner. What do you say? Sounds like a stellar deal or just average? Total out the door would be about 45k including taxes etc.
I was initially interested in an 09 however the price of this one got me thinking. Cheapest comparable 09 is at least 10k more. From what I understand only difference on 09's is the updated I drive and LED tails right? I appreciate everyones input in advance. |

About a month ago, I turned in a 2008 E90 6MT (end of lease) with 24k miles and the BMW Financial statement showed a residual of about $38k. About a week later, the car is in the used car section of the dealer's showroom (all cleaned up) with a sticker price of $49k (before taxes & fees)! So yeah, (I'm not sure if there's a big price difference between Calif & FL, but) your price looks good. However, driving a 2011 now, the new I-Drive is SO much better than the one in 2008 model.

Man that sounds like a deal that would never happen in my part of country. In fact that's got to be one of the best prices I've seen on an 08+ M3 coupe to date.

uhh...yes, do it! The car by it self is a good deal. The real question is, did you trade in or finance through the dealer? If so, it may not be a great deal if he reemed you on the trade or you took unfavorable finance terms.

I'd be looking for an 09+ for the updated IDrive.

Overall sounds like a good deal, but I have to agree with this. I have the old IDrive in the X6 its slower and ok it gets the job done. It does become easier to use with reviewing the manual and using more voice commands that trying to scroll through everything. The new IDrive in my M is much more intuitive, faster and much better display. But if you have the same system in your current car and are already familiar with it then I'd jump on it

The old IDrive sucks BIG TIME compared to the new one, and the 2011 one is even better. I hate using the IDrive in my 2008 335, it looks so dated.

41k is dirt cheap. Get it unless you want to pay 10k more for the updated iDrive.

Dude that is a sick price... The difference between the old and new idrive is sort of big but definitely not that big. It would cost less to retrofit the new idrive in the car. I see a win win on everyones part. Definitely on yours and the dealer for selling the car. Good luck bro

Regardless, you can retrofit both the tailights and the new iDrive (and soon the Combox) in that MY2008 for about $4000 or less, depending on where you buy the parts. I think that it is a decent deal for a lightly used MY2008 E92 M3, although they were selling for $48000 new two years ago at the end of the firesale. |

I just seen this car for sale at my local dealer and they are asking 50k! This car doesnt even seem as loaded as the one you are looking at. That said, it sounds like a good deal.

If a CPO and more or less loaded, that is an amazing price.
If private party and missing some options (19's, EDC, etc.) then it's still a pretty good price. I would say great price but chances are you're going to need new tires so add $1,500 or so to that price. The only thing you'll be missing with a 2008 coupe vs. the 2009 is the new iDrive and nav system. Last edited by double_j; 11-18-2010 at 02:02 PM.. |

I think I am going to buy it and retrofit the new I drive. From what I understand it is about 3k for the entire system. Even if I pay that I still come up cheaper then buying an 09.

Just an update....If it's too good to be true....It probably is! Just came back from a 700 mile round trip. Everything was clean on the car(including car fax) however I could tell that the drive rear quarter panel was fixed/repainted. Job was top notch and VERY few people would of noticed however my eagle eye spotted it! I walked away.

its a good deal. if youre not a tech geek then dont worry bout the updated i-drive, its not that big a deal. to be honest, i hardly use i-drive except to select my music and change radio stations. i-drive is not the reason why i bought the m3.
