Enjoying all these ads! While on the topic, I have been a special interest vehicle craigslist shopper for 20+ years. Csmart and Cplus apps on my iphone have found me many fun rides from across the country over the years. Unfortunately neither work anymore as CL blocks your IP due to "too many inquiries" or something like that when you search the country. I now use searchtempest/autotempest which works well but is less efficient time-wise compared to Csmart. What programs are you guys using to keep up to speed on what is out there on craigslist?

Its a shame Craigslist has died out as much as it has and most have moved over to Facebook Marketplace. I HATE FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE!!!! Don't even get me started. It has ruined my 20+ year hobby/obsession!

Burn. I assume the main issue as far as mobile is how it opens up a bunch of separate tabs for the mobile results? Unfortunately there's not a lot we can do to change that without ultimately getting blocked as others have. Certainly open to other suggestions on how we can improve though!

Nate, no burn intended. I became very spoiled using Csmart for many, many years. The beauty of Csmart was that it could search CL across the entire country and give you results in 1 page, sorted from newest to oldest. If you checked daily, all you had to look at was one page and scroll through what has been posted that day. It was super fast and efficient. Unfortunately, no other app or site has offered this function, and as you mention, it is no longer even possible so Csmart is gone.

Another way of looking at the situation is that Searchtempest is now the best CL search engine out there that I know of and is my go-to for everything CL. There is no point in comparing it to things that don't exist anymore. I appreciate the site and your efforts to keep it going. I wish there was some way the masses would wake up, see how bad FB marketplace is, and start using CL again. I reworded my previous post with more facts and less emotions. My apologies for being overly harsh. I was typing while frustrated.

No, not at all—I've gotten far worse! Honestly any feedback that includes the fact that you're still using the site can't be that bad. And it's good to know the frustrations even when we can't immediately do anything about them. Sometimes it at least helps find ways to present things so that the reason for any limitations is clear. I definitely agree it would be handy if everything could be included on a single page, but we do what we can.

Facebook Marketplaces' quality notwithstanding, we've also recently added a similar nationwide search function for it to autotempest by the way, and will be adding it to searchtempest momentarily. So while we can't fix most of its frustrations, at least we can similarly make it a bit easier to search a wide area.

I had not seen that before. I'll have to give that a try next time I am on the hunt. Need to sell some cars first. Haha. Thanks for the insight.

What I mean is, I think when the E46 models become similarly old, with the same miles, that most clean examples regardless of miles will fall around the $60-80k mark. Then same with E92.

It would be interesting to see where F80s end up but, I dont have time to live that long.

Two M3s twenty years apart for about the same price.

(The F80 is salvage though.)

I will take the Euro E36 between the two.

I must be a crazy person too, because I prefer the 3.0 over the 3.2.

The perfect spec. The rear seat flip is a nice touch. Also really appreciating how the crayon colors came out on the airbag. Perfecto.

Yes. Don't forget the half painted "euro style" caps

I wonder why the window washer fill cap did not get the same treatment.

I like the random trim part lying on the floor on the passenger side, nice touch.

Sketchiest ad I've seen in a while. Also the dubious honor of being the highest priced.

I thought this was one of the stupidest prices I've seen but can't compete with the ad above!

Actually considering the rarity and ridiculous 5k miles, not totally nuts. EAG has an original Z8 with 3k miles going for $500k, so....

At the time I purchased my E46 M3 the Z8 was available to me, my dealer had an extra open allocation and I "could" have swung it by selling off some stock and such. Figured as low a numbers they were being made at they would be a very good long term investment. Good sense took hold and I let it go. Both good and bad for me. Good that I didn't liquidate any of my portfolio. Bad that 2-3 years later they were going for $300k for clean low mileage examples on cars that cost $130-140k. The alpina versions came out after Z8 production was done and was made in super low numbers but didn't have the M engine amongst other things. Never really followed these cars so not really sure what the market has been like.

as fun as it is to speculate on these, the reality is that in the long run i don't think any of them beat the market. i didn't follow the Z8 in its early days, so if it really went 3x in 3 years that's an exception, but where it is now has def fallen behind (despite the similar face value)
