According to support the new lvds cable is higher quality and reduces interference.
I have gps issues if my (or any other) iPhone is too close to the Mr12volt unit. I have asked if this is the interference it resolves. No response yet. Has anyone else noticed GPS issues (unreliable location info for nav apps) if the phone is too close to the MR12volt unit? |

Just got my shipping notification as well! Looks like they are shipping out of New Jersey, so you being in New York is quite the stroke of luck. Going to take a little longer to get to me in Washington State.

Hope to hear from the first installers that this time they got it right! Would have liked the company to have let a couple of people on these forums to test their units, to make evaluations. That alone would have been great advertising for them. Fingers crossed this time.

My unit should be here today though not sure when I'll have time to install it yet. Still have a half blown engine mount to fix.

Yeah, I'm very curious how the unit performs when I get it in. What I am suspecting is that with the EQ set to flat on the P2000-DSP it will sound like the old unit (lacking bass).
We will need to find the right combination of EQ settings to get the sound to what the CIC/CCC expects over MOST, inline with all the other inputs. Will likely be a group effort to get these settings dialed in correctly. It would be really nice if someone has equipment that can accurately measure the sound frequencies so we can get this dialed in perfectly. At the end of the day there will be only one combination of EQ settings that are "correct". It may take some time and back and forth between forum members to identify what those settings are. |

Just installed LVDS cable is in fact a different design and different plug on the Mr12Volt side. No impressions on sound yet but I do think think GPS reception is better.

Just got my unit delivered.
Initial observations before installation. The new unit is much lighter than the original P2000 (not p2000 light). Body is made of plastic instead of metal. I'm guessing this is due to the internal wifi and bluetooth antennas which makes sense. I'm guessing the P2000 lights box was also plastic. Lastly, I snapped a couple of photos to put some clarity on the LVDS cable change. It looks like the box connection is now a standard LVDS connection vs the proprietary connector they were using with the old box, and that is the reason for the change. Pictures of the box and cable below. |

Got mine today. It's the same box as the P2000 Light, except it's blue and the LVDS connector is standard. It takes quite the effort to plug in and fully seat.
There is an EQ/DSP now in the settings, and after testing some tones between both of them even with my lowly 335 base audio, the bass has returned. |

Installation complete.
Used the mr12volt mic in the empty mic slot this time instead of the mic splitter so my mic actually works. The contrast once again is set too high out of the box. This causes side streets in google maps in carplay when in day mode to be washed out. Pull the contrast down 10 clicks on the idrive knob to correct it. Finally the bass. As far as I can tell, with the EQ set to flat in the P2000-DSP, I believe it sounds the same as the old box.... MAYBE a bit better. Can't exactly compare the two side by side. Messing with the EQ a bit, it definitely restores the missing bass. However, I haven't been able to get it dialed in to match the other CIC inputs yet. It's going to take some time to get this dialed in correctly. Right now I've got it set to +10 for all the sliders in the bass section (I think max was +20?). Going all the way up it was possible to overdo it. My current settings sound a bit muddy compared to native CIC, so still more testing to do. All in all we are definitely going in the right direction! |

Ok did some actual testing here. I downloaded some test tones, and a decibel meter for my iphone, played the same tones off a USB stick, once through CIC, and once through Mr12volt directly, (no carplay or android auto, native music player), and adjusted the EQ to get the tones to match.
The results I found for the Bass EQ section was the following. 31HZ: +5 63hz +2 80Hz +1 160hz +4 375hz +0 I'll need to run the same test through carplay, however, I can't exactly use my iphone to do that, as its running carplay. I really need an external DB meter to test further. Last edited by drwankel; 04-29-2022 at 11:35 PM.. |

The plot thickens….
My initial test was doing comparisons between the radio and the Audacy app which streams the same station. I have two other cars with CarPlay, and these normally sound about the same between the radio and app. There was still a lack of bass when using the app on the mr12volt box Went out for a drive and tried my mp3 collection through Apple Music. Booom! Full bass. Then I noticed a bit of distortion, so I set the EQ back to flat. Full bass. No distortion. Tested the same track through USB in CIC, pretty darn close if not identical. The bass issue may be flat out fixed in this box without any EQ adjustment. Very curious what others think. I'm kind of doubting the accuracy of the DB app I used to come up as it was free and this is a phone, not the most accurate thing. |

Mines arrived too. Will get onto installation tomorrow. My P2000 didn't have any loss of bass, though I do have base audio at present before the big audiophile install goes in (more on that on another thread later in the year)
As above, its lighter than the P2000. |

New DSP version fitted to my 335i with individual audio, Factory spec uk car.
Only tested briefly but with car and mr12volt equalisers set flat the bass issue appears to be fixed. I played some regular playlist songs that previously had to have the car EQ adjusted to enhance the bass. They now sound as they should with the car EQ reset. When I get time I will do some direct comparisons between the stock system and CarPlay and update further. |
