Suggested Items to replace at 113k miles?

Buying an 09 e90 m3 this week and wanted to know what you guys think should be replaced by this Milage? To my Knowledge- rod bearings, oil, battery, alternator, ABS sensors, and valve Cover gaskets have all recently been changed.

I picked up an e90 in early 2022 and have gone from 98k to 125k miles. Congrats on the purchase. Mine has not left me stranded at the cost of a lengthy preventive maintenance list.


Vanos covers - go with a bolt on option
Spark plugs
belts
pulleys and tensioner pulley springs
air filter
water pump/thermostat (hoses will last 20 years but people change them and they can get stuck then damaged when you take them off for the thermostat)
Fuel pump (it's the only way to replace the fuel filter, they are integrated)
Evaluate: Brake pads & rotors, brake fluid
Transmission fluid (or fluid and filter if dct)
I replaced every control arm in the car front and back - made a huge difference in the steering feel - you can be more selective on this and save money
AC compressor will go

The pulley assemblies are shockingly expensive for this car. Luckily Garret at FCPEuro was able to cross reference parts. So it is possible to order just the pulleys and not the aluminum brackets they come with for way less than ordering the whole assembly.

I'd replace the below items that could leave you stranded and/or damage the engine.

1. Alternator
2. Water pump, thermostat, coolant hoses, radiator, expansion tank and cap
3. Rod bearings

Everything else can wait til they start to give errors/noise.

Thanks man. So far I’ve bought all fluids and spark plugs. Hopefully i can tackle that this week. Car got a fresh oil change right before purchase. The controls arms are also on my list of things to change out. This week I should be able to install these test pipes I purchased from AA 😁

My butt dyno didn’t notice a difference. If you track the car at a high level maybe that marginal horsepower gain at the end of the rev range shows up as a few hundredths of a second on a laptime. But to me it was a waste of $400. If staying NA, spend your money on aftermarket exhaust if stock, induction sound via carbon fiber plenum, and a decent stage 1 tune.

Throttle actuators possibly too if your going to have the top of the motor apart to do the vanos covers.

Might also be worth while replacing the valve covers. I know you said the gaskets were replaced but that doesn’t always solve the leaking issues, plus they will need to be removed to do the vanos covers anyway.

Assuming you mean the dct tune. Yes, when I had a dct car the extra aggressive and more precise shifting was great fun. You can load it for free with some effort but I thought was worth the $200 or so I spent.

Keep in mind you will sacrifice some 0-60 performance with the GTS DCT tune on a stock engine. Check out this thread here.
