Dinan ECU Software Installed! :)
Okay been out of the loop for a minute with TDY's and travel, and a local PCS move too over the last 90 days so sorry for the lapse and MIA status. But here's my latest update for my buds in the No VA/MD/DC M3post world!
Thanks Shady1 for the AA posts and referrals, looked really good and thought hard about their ECU upgrade but ended up going a different route. Had some time to kill this Fri due to the 4th July holiday weekend and was at the dealer with my buddy who was looking at a used 7 series (750 Li) so one thing led to another as I was talking to my service rep and you know the rest! LOL http://www.dinancars.com/store/produ...cat=818&page=1 SOOO 40 mins later the Dinan ECU Software Flash/upgrade is on the car and it's sitting polished and washed in the pickup lane! LOL So far so good; most impressive (as the commercial says in the James Earl Jones voice). Its a very nice if subtle upgrade and if you hadn't driven the car alot or had much experience with it you'd think it came like that. The engine feels alot smoother and power delivery at ANY rpm is just there immediately. Haven't dyno'd the car previously but would be interested in what it would show now with my Esseinman Sport also and VR710 wheels and AFE Performance Air Filter. Haven't even used the M button yet on it but will let you know how it feels if/when I ever find somewhere to open her up more and stay outta jail! LOL Next up CF Type II rear diffuser (already ordered) and maybe still a short shift IF I can ever find somebody with one and like it...not too sure with all the traffic patterns in this area tho. See ya guys later/soon!

For the ECU flash call Fairfax Service Center on Prosperity Ave in Fairfax and speak to Reese (703)560-1700. He'll give you 5% off on ALL Dinan parts and also labor and install! He did my Dinan Performance Spring set in March prior to heading down to the M School with Ase2dias!
As for the CF rear diffuser..has not arrived yet. Shipped today...so pics and updates to come!

I want to do this upgrade since I already have the Dinan intake, exhaust and suspension, but what bothers me is there is no way of knowing whether or not it is installed at any given time. Any future service visit could potenitally re-flash the software back to stock by accident.

I'm considering AA vs Dinan ECU flash. I have a $100 of Dinan products coupon which I can put towards this mod. I have the AA exhaust and am considering the X pipe so might just go with their product.

No $800 for piece of mind and also a warranty that goes far past what other tuners are offering. Also added to the fact that I've been at my dealer for over 10 yrs which means they know me and my cars therefore IF I did have a problem with one of their Dinan installs they would stand behind the work and take care of it.
Just went to Active Autowerks site and their reflash is just as much so what are you talking about? E90/E92 2008+ 2008+ M3 Stock and/or Exhaust More information $ 995 Some of you guys on the forum don't like Dinan and think they are waay overpriced...fine. Yet the same guys go ahead and spend countless $$$ on overpriced cosmetic junk and w$7000 on HRE and lightweight wheels which you don't race and bold on superchargers from countless small tuner shops with no warranty to speak of which amuses me. IMHO it's to each his own...so if you don't buy from Dinan them fine but if you can't defend your opinions with concrete engineering data on why not and R&D then maybe you should just keep silent!

Dinan products are expensive but they offer some exciting mods for our cars. The 4.10 limited slip differential is on my radar screen for the next mod. I am very pleased with my Dinan springs so far with the subtle drop and an improvement in performance.

SO let me get this one right....an EDC spring is about $700 job I hear in parts/labor from last service quote I hear/saw...and any shop will charge me at least $200 to remove the offending spring and then another $200 to re-install the new set. So somebody tell me after $400-500 for non Dinan Performance springs and then $200 for install and another $150 for alignment and oh yeah another $200 to uninstall any problem springs/replace the EDC ones...WHERE am I saving any significant $$ over the Dinan deal I go on my performance set? I even got 15% off my Dinan set plus another 5% matched by my Dinan shop on install and parts on top of what Dinan wa giving!

BTW I have no issues with Dinan. Hell, my car is 99 percent stock with the exception of tinted windows.

Don't think so. Made a mistake of Procharging a car once that... I'll stop right now.

9 horsepower can be deceiving...
Let me put it this way. Would you rather have 291 horsepower...or 300?

its not just the 9 hp...its the raised redline, the deletion of the speed limiter and the overall driveability that the car has compared to before the flash.
IMO it is WELL worth the money |

I had the Dinan Software installed recently as well.. Let the ECU learn for a week or so.. I can say that I do feel a difference in how the car accelerates.. It's much smoother and I do feel it pulling slightly harder than before. I was also getting what i thought was slight knocking at midrange RPM before the software.. I don't hear any knocking anymore after the software upgrade..
I don't think it was bad gas as I tried different stations always with same slight knocking..(I have exhaust and intake mods) could it have been that the stock ECU couldn't account for the mods and give more fuel? dunno.. I'm satisfied. |
