Insurance woes
I bought my e93 m3 from an enthusiast who took great care of this car however during hurricane sally in gulf coast, his car had water damage so it was totaled and after repairs ended up w rebuilt title.
I bought the car from him after a year of his ownership. One of the best BMWs I have ever owned. I have had the car for a while now, it’s been my daily and best part - my kid loves riding in it. Unfortunately I got rear ended few months ago and it took a long time to get this car repaired. My car finally got back and after repairs, I asked insurance company to adjust for the depreciation of the value. Given its rebuilt title and age, the insurance company stated that they will not be able to add any compensation for accident depreciation. I don’t plan on getting rid of the car but I do feel that accident title will make it a problem for me. Approx 3k was spent on convertible mechanism and 6k was spent on pain and body work. No frame damage was noted. Additionally, my insurance agent had told me that they will compensate for car seats as well and asked me to send pictures, links for car seat purchase and images of cut seat belts - which I did. After review from their supervisor, the agent stated that he cannot compensate for car seats given that this was a minor accident. I was rear ended on the highway during a slow down and the car behind me was driving 75 mph. I feel like I ruined my seats in addition to not getting paid for replacement. It’s infuriating that neither am I being compensated for depreciation from an accident and not for car seats which I was told to discard, all because of mistake of a distracted kid. |

I have to side with the insurance company on your depreciation claim if it’s already a salvage title. Now, if you want to get compensated for whatever, there are ways. As my grandfather (who is likely looking up at us from below) used to say, “Whiplash means cash”. Lawyer up and play the game if you feel they are screwing you.

I’d aggressively push back on child seats. Any collision should warrant a replacement. If not the insurer, do it yourself.

Yeah they agreed to begin with and then said it was mild accident which didn’t involve airbag deployment etc
But I had already cut my seat belts for car seats and I did so only after they agreed to it. Definitely going to push for car seats and won’t be reusing those. |
