Cleaning the rear bumper

I have a question regarding my rear bumper. Since we installed catless exhaust, my rear bumper turned brownish/black, my car is silvesrtone2.
This stuff is very difficult to clean with known to me cleaners.
Any suggestions what to use?

A good cleaner wax in liquid form removes exhaust stains on paint. It will also leave the area shiny and protected. Any auto parts store has the Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. If heavily stained I would start with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound.

I have been told that the autoscrub is more time efficient than a clay bar but instills more swirls.. For the amateur detailed like myself I'd stick to the claybar

I have the nanoskin but the smaller one (sponge looking). IMO it is one of the greatest inventions ever and replaces the clay bar. It works just as well and I don't notice any issues with inducing swirls.

I too was fooled by the thread title, I thought this was about how to clean the top of the rear bumper after you dragged the bloodied bodies out of your trunk after the bachelor party.

IMO if this is the first time then I would use a sealant, let it cure for a day, then put a top coat of wax. I am still a wax person and swear by Collinite 845. Right now it's layered over a coat of Rejex sealant and my car is Jet Black and looks great! (sits outside as well most nights).

I'm a Collinite carnauba wax fan as well. I tried the Sonax Polymer Net Shield and it's all right, but nothing feels like a good wax when you are drying/wiping the car. I beleive the 845 is even recommended for use over a sealant? The Collinite paste wax is top notch, too, lasts longer than any other high-end wax I've tried.

I was looking for some reviews for top sealants on the internet and here is one of many positive reviews of Sonax, that includes a comparison to Collinite 476 and 845

Pros:
- Depth of shine is incredible. Definitely has some small ability to hide very minor imperfections, at least temporarily.
- Easy application -- wipe on, wipe off, buff.
- Durability is outrageous. I compared this to Collinite 476 and 845 in simultaneous application on two different cars. Prep was identical, but the durability of the Sonax is literally 2+ times longer than either of the other products, and still going. This is the first product I've used where 3 months of durability isn't a pipe dream.
- Relatively cheap. I've done a full-sized minivan and a station wagon, and it feels like the can is about 3/4 full. No need to go hog wild and spray the stuff thick.

Durability is for sure going to be different than a wax since it's a paint sealer, you can't really compare the two. With a Sealant you shouldn't need to wax over top (and I'm told it won't bond/last long) but just use a spray detailer.

In the summer I go with the Colinite 476 and in the winter I use the Sonax. Our climate is all over the map (from +35 C to - 40 C) and we have extremely long winters.

A lot of people recommended me the Sonax PNS and then their Brilliant Spray detailer. Unreal combo, if you're going to use a Paint Sealant, I'd go with that. One can will do 3 vehicles I'm told as well.

Good luck!
