LT4 in an e92.
Gotta admit, it's cool.

And all I really want is the LT1. It's not asking much. Come on, cloudskyman, make it happen and I'll send you offerings Would also settle for the LS7, I guess, if I HAVE to.

Probably less weight, too. I believe it's a dry sump oil system, so might be lower as well. It would be interesting to see a before/after corner balance.

But it literally makes twice as much torque as the S65, sooooo, I guess that's ok unless you are a Real M Car Enthusiast, in which case it is GARBAGE and should be sold to me for a dollar

Chevy small blocks (even the newer LT-generation) are relatively light and compact for the power they produce. I couldn't find the exact dimensions for the LT4, but Chevy claims it is only 1" higher than the LT1:

That's one way of getting around doing rod bearings.

I like these cars for the engine but if it ever goes you better believe I'm not paying 20k for another one. This looks like a nice option if they ever get it close to plug and play.

It definitely sounds appealing. However, the cost for LT1 & transmission is similar to an S65 built with aftermarket rods. LT4 is more like a stroker. Granted the power curves would be completely different. Would be nice to see a kit and the cost involved.

Sounds awesome but it looks like nightmare running two ecu's,probably lost abs, mdm, edc and all bmw telemetrics in the cluster. It would be easier to get Dinan 4.6 low compression stroker and Harrop supercharger and retain stock dme and all other functions for about same $$$.

That's a badass swap and sounds really good. I wonder how much it would take to get all the electronics working with the engine. Engine plus transmission is roughly $23K, probably double that to get the gauges, A/C, heating, etc. to work correctly.
I'll be sure to be on the lookout for any crashed Z06's or ZL1 Camaros.

Perfect. Just perfect. It even still sounds like an E92 M3!
If they ever get it to work plug and play, it would be a great alternative.

That's pretty incredible. I don't need to supercharger either.
Any idea what transmission they used? Boy if this became standardized and available there would be a pretty good market for this conversion. |
