How to downshift to lowest gear in S mode?

I have read the owner's manual regarding downshifting to lowest gear possible but I can't get it to work consistently.

I pressed the gas pedal all the way down and then hit the left pedal. It downshifts only for 1 gear lower (like if I am in 7th, it will go to 6th and if I am on 5th, it will go to 4th..etc at cruising speed). I got it to work for few times but I still can't get it to work every single time.

What am I doing wrong?

I press the gas all the way down. I am not sure if I feel a click because I never noticed that but I do press the pedal very hard.

These two steps should take less than 1 sec (otherwise 6MT would be faster in downshifting) but I feel it takes more than that to get it to work.

hold down the left paddle, instead of clicking once

Look under the gas paddle there is a small knob , that's what you press the paddle down to click or push it in me thinks .
although I have not tried it myself

Awesome feature! Don't overthink it. Floor it while simultaneously pulling back and holding the left paddle. After the DCT downshifts to the lowest appropriate gear, shift as normal. Have fun!

This thread is helpful. I've tried it before and had the same result of only downshifting by 1 gear. Now I have an excuse to drive aggressively tonight!

I've actually noticed that you don't need to hold down the paddle to engage the escape gear feature.

Just putting the gas pedal to the floor, ensuring you are clicking the button at the bottom, and a tap of the downshift paddle will do it. There's no need to hold the paddle down.
