Agree. Stock is 245/35R19 + 265/35R19, and most of us go up to 255/35R19 + 275/35R19. This maintains a similar rolling diameter and the same stagger as stock but gets a bit more rubber on the road.

Thanks for the suggestion! All season probably isn't the right tires for me then. Will do that once temp drops!

M3 Newbie here with a similar question.
My M3 is my only car but its not my only means of getting around. It's a company car of sorts so if I really need to drive in crap weather, I can expense a suitable rental. Otherwise, I have taxis and mass transit in the city. When I had my MB C32, I bought a winter set up and found that it never left the garage if there was more than an inch or two of snow on the ground. When I had my RRS, I put all seasons on it but it also sat in the garage on most snow days. So the only time my M3 will be out on the road is on cold but dry winter days. The Conti's on it now would be hard as bricks in cold weather so should I ditch the current tires for all seasons like the Conti Contact DWS (Not DW) and then buy another set of summer tires in spring? Living in NYC, I also lack the storage for a winter set/summer set and I'm not really into paying for a storage unit to do so. |

Sorry for the threadjack everyone. Somewhat related questions regarding the 220m. I have never purchased winter tires before, from Florida lol. When I try to do stock tire size for 220m 19", there are no winter tires that fit the oem size. What size do you recommend? I am lowered on springs but i don't think that matters for winter. I run 255/35/19 in the front and 295/30/19 in the rear with no issues. Also, what brand is good for very little snow? It doesn't snow here often and when it does, it's not very thick. Best, John

Doens't it snow alot where you are at? I would definitely get a dedicated set if you have the sstorage room for it. Swapping tires never makes sense and all-season seems a waste on the m3.

I understand that a/s tires are a waste on an m3 but I don't need snows and summer tires lack any real grip in cold so I'm looking for a good alternative to get me through dry winter driving |

For the 220 19" wheels, most are using 255/35R19 and 275/35R19 with good results. Blizzak LM60's are available in that size combo, which are a pretty decent balance between reasonable (though not super sporty) handling and good snow traction. For the moderate snow you describe, those should work well. -Ben

In this case, I think the lowest speed rating applies correct? In the end I got the LM60s since they were also on blowout price so about 270-ish$ cheaper. Let's try them! First winter set EVER.

OP I have been running the DWS on my E90 for about 10K miles. I put them on last winter in hopes that I could still drive the car when the roads weren't junk up here in MA and keep the car running.
I have ended up loving these tires. My vehicle is also SC with the 575 kit from ESS. I have to say with a 265/30 and 285/30 set up the grip has been very good. Very little wheel spin and I run a 4.10 diff. These are great AS tires and I have always been brand loyal to conti...until I put the PSS on! Amazing tire and will certainly be going to these come summer exclusively. I am sure the Michelin AS will be just as good as the DWS. And I think your size will be fine. I was running a 285/35 conti 5P on my 220M prior to aftermarket wheels |
