I'm going to be putting a set of Carrillo rods (along with CP pistons) in my GT-R soon also. Stock GT-R rods are known to bend past 650TQ, so I can't do anything else until I swap out the rods and pistons. I only got 3500 miles on them, but they got to go!
Good stuff Mike, what company will be doing the build for you?

What a BIG difference between ESS VT kits. Did not realize it would be that big of a difference. Love it! Good luck with the build. Can not wait for the end result. Would also love to see a comparison of the AA Stage 2 vs. ESS VT625. Now that would be a good shootout.

If you're curious about these things, then you should go look at
the Dyno Database (www.bmwdynodatabase.com). Here's a few entries
for you. These are all independant dyno results, not vendor
entries.

The first few are taken from the same exact dyno:
AA Stage-2 +Meth @ 7.7 PSI: 465whp, 334wtq.
http://bmw.pencilgeek.org/showDyno.php?recID=326
ESS Stage-1 VT1-535 @ 5.6 PSI: 472whp, 310wtq.
http://bmw.pencilgeek.org/showDyno.php?recID=332 (This dyno was
taken exactly 24 hours after the dyno above. Identical
conditions.)

Different dyno, but same California 91 octane gas:
ESS VT2-625 +Meth @ 7.15 PSI: 586whp, 379wtq.
http://bmw.pencilgeek.org/showDyno.php?recID=320
ESS VT2-650 (no Meth) @ 9.0 PSI: 604whp, 386wtq.
http://bmw.pencilgeek.org/showDyno.php?recID=357

Here's a few entries taken from back east USA. Should be the same
gasoline however.
AA Stage-2 +Meth @ 7.5 PSI: 501whp, 355wtq.
http://bmw.pencilgeek.org/showDyno.php?recID=316
ESS VT2-625 (no meth) @ 7.4 PSI: 594whp, 381wtq.
http://bmw.pencilgeek.org/showDyno.php?recID=310

I hope this helps.

The numbers seem rather low for the AA kits. I just saw at Bimmerfest an 09 E90 M3 with the AA stage 2 and a fabspeed exhaust listed as 650hp and 425 ft./lb at the crank w/ Meth running 7.5psi. Not sure what his powerl loss ratio is from crank to wheel, but wouldn't think it would be more than 22-23%. Am I off? The ESS kits seem to yeild better numbers. Maybe this is why sooooo many folks have these kits.

Please remember the dyno he has posted is my first set of dyno numbers with no boost log.(My setup has changed with different exhaust parts) The day after that dyno i went to another with a boost log and it was only 6.5 psi. Dyno's aren't everything and AA kits aren't dyno queens. If you want real world results my 501 hp vs 590 hp ess at Atco AA wins all day. Also FBO 335 beating ess vt-2 kits on the street. So you can judge yourself fairly instead of bias info.

I am the sedan and the e92 with the flag in the back is M33 that run 120 ess 122 AA both of us had traction issue.

sorry drew for going a little off topic but it was brought up in the thread. Hope all is well. Can't wait for the build to be over.

Tried looking for the right Dyno with the right Boost log for Akashs car but couldnt find it so i went with what was posted. Also his car was low on boost when he hit the Dyno that day cause of a boost leak or something i cant recall but no doubt his car performs excellent on the drag strip.

Sorry Drew for thread jacking !

Akh I think it would be great if you made it out to our neck of the woods I'll even come to yourse so we can do some friendly runs.
I trapped a 121.5 mph and that was with wheel spin in 1st 2nd and 3rd and..... 6mt
Where as your dct ( 4+sec of time to add more Mph ) and Meth ( giving you cold weather performance and again MPH ) so I wouldn't say it's a fair stack up especially at the track !
Now you wanna compare both kits let's do some 40mph roll runs and watch the tables turn... Turn your Meth off they will turn even more

Now as for the FBO 335 putting smack down on ESS kits see below me runing a FBO 335 on our way to the track the same day we ran .

i never compared kit sir, just stating some facts for people that was brought up by another member. Dyno's aren't everything is all i am trying to say. i was giving examples of how my car stacked up against a higher dyno reading car.

I will run what I got, I am not gonna turn anything off what is this Nascar restricted plate races. Next your gonna tell me to swap transmissions to make it a fair race. I have heard and seen videos from friends showing me FBO 335i beating up ess kits.

I am heading up Sunday to hang out with Img hope to see you then.
