At that point, going to the store was the best option.

Anyone manage to activate theirs yet? I think I'm going to just give up, and set my alarm for 3 am or something in order to activate my phone.

I think this problem is just sad, I mean they have done this 4 time with the other previous iPhones and they still can't manage to get it right? If u know how many phones sold, then I think it should be automatic to adjust the servers to handle a capacity of that much

This seems to suggest that we should just try once to activate it, and if it fails, don't touch it for at least an hour or two.

My 4S was set up from my 4 back up, currently syncing songs (apps already synced)

will see if it activates though after everything is synced

i took out the sim card, since the sim in there is suppose to be my mom's number, and i don't want to knock her off the network...

will install my sim after the syncing is complete. hopefully everything goes smooth

So my dad got a 4s, can't say I see the big difference yet, most came with IOS5. Siri is cool but who will realistically use it?

Set up my iPhone perfectly

No activation problems, nothing.

It didn't even ask me to activate.... :P

The difference is it's noticeably faster

and I also needed the extra space as my 16gb has been full forever and i keep having to delete stuff..real PITA

And... i got my 4 for $255 and sold for $335 after cost of shipping, so I'm happy

Heh. So I pre-ordered the first day as soon as possible. Phone showed up this afternoon. Trading iMessages with my buddy, and he decided to go ahead and get one. Waltzed right into the AT&T store, no line, and got his too!

iMessage is pretty sweet. I have my iPad2 and 4S setup for it, and messages (both outbound and inbound) show up on both devices! Nice!

Also, playing around with Siri is pretty hilarious. I asked it, "Can I have sex with you?". You'll have to do it yourself to get the answer......

I figured it out at last. Once you get the "we will send you an email" message, DON'T touch your phone. Leave it there until you have more than one bar of signal, AND your old phone loses service (gets deactivated). When that happens, try to activate it once more via iTunes. It will work instantly. The time lag between not touching your phone and getting more bars of signal for me was around an hour, could be more though.

wow, funny just as I was reading your post I got 3 bars of signal. First time I get more than 1 bar since i got the phone more than 4 hours ago! I hope it works now. Thanks!
