Girodisc 2-piece rotors

Hi guys, im new to the forums and recently started tracking my car. the car is still running on its first set of rotors and they are close to needing a replacement. ive been looking around for alternate options to the oem units and came across the girodisc brand. after reading up on their products it seems to be a good product, regularly used by exotic car drivers as replacement rotors with good feedback, e36, e46 m3's, porsches, evos etc.

anyways, i messaged them on facebook and was told that if we can get a group buy going with 10 or more people they can do a front set for around 800 bucks, which is pretty good compared to other products of similar quality. replacement rings will be around 250-300 each. theyre also a few lbs lighter than oem per corner, but at this point im not sure by how much.

id love to get some feedback from you guys, personal experiences with girodisc or alternate choices that may be better within the same price range. other than that, so far this seems to be a really good opportunity to get high quality 2 piece rotors at a reasonable price.

the pic is a gtr rotor for reference

I bought a set to solve a shudder problem on my Mustang 5.0 and they were excellent. Highly recommended.

Interesting. I would like to see the exact specs of the disc. There is no information on their homepage.
It would be interesting how these compare to PFC Direct Drive. The price is already better than PFC, which isn't really hard to beat

yah they don't even have a bmw section on their site as far as i know, but they will produce to any spec should there be enough demand and a big enough order. they told me they considered the e92 m3 rotors but havent had enough demand so far, hence the group buy to get things going. i found a few threads with track prepped cars running these and the responses are very positive.

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...rodiscs-3.html

the company is started and run by an aerospace engineer, martin meade, who used to work for the porsche engineering services and an ex brembo engineer and the components seem to be motorsports level products.

does anyone have the weight of the front and rear stock rotors?

For $800 the first set and about $300-350 replacement disks. I'll be interested in a group buy for sure.

Since the idea is for an OEM replacement rotor, would these be intended to work with the OEM pads as well or would aftermarket pads be suggested?

Q: What is required to install the Girodisc system?
A: The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc.
No modifications are necessary. The disc will bolt directly to the car and work with OE calipers and pads perfectly. Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed. Some discs are larger in diameter and come with caliper spacers. If longer bolts are required, they are also supplied.

I used to run Girodisc 2 piece rotors on my Evo X and have nothing but positive things to say about them. I tracked on pagid's in 105F+ weather and they responded amazingly, no cracks or fade like oem.

OP said if he can get 10 people, they'd do fronts for $800. Are they going through with this? I'd be interested for sure

I see. I am actually looking for good aftermarket rotors right now. Not much is available besides PFC and RB rotors. PFC rotors may not be reliable after reading a few negative reviews on this forum. RB rotors are great, i know because i use them as my track rotors for 135i, and others are happy, but are expensive.
I would wait for girodisc rotos for $800 front, if it becomes available soon.
OP, we need your answer please

Absolutely. I'd also be in for a purchase of the rear, so put me on that list if it were to be created

OP hasn't logged in for like 2 weeks. I guess I'll contact Girodisc myself and see what happens. A group buy would be really nice.

I'm interested. I can't commit to anything, but I definitely want to hear the GB price on these.

Same here. I'd at least like to hear the price for a full set though.
