This has bothered me since purchasing the car, the ever so typical e9x upper windshield molding, it's deteriorating. I thought today would be a great day to work on getting the old nasty one off in preparation of installing the new one after coating.

Well done! My e90 M3 has only 35k on it and the upper windshield molding is already looking shot.

The more I've seen it's a common issue. Cheap rubber I'm guessing that can't stand the UV. Not a bad fix though for $28.

This was the first thing I did to mine after purchase. Luckily the previous owner made my job easier by removing all the old cracking rubber.

Bought the new part from FCP for the lifetime warranty in case it ever dries and cracks again.

Interested to hear how your install goes. I had a hell of a time getting the passenger side of the molding seated properly.

I watched a few YouTube videos and was having a hard time myself. Until I watched one that showed you have to start each end about 3" in towards the middle and slide it into the end. Once I realized that, it was cake. Before I peel the tape though, I'm debating taking it off again and moving it over about .25" as it's a tad short on one end.

This is after correction with a microfiber cutting pad and Sonax perfect finish. I'll be coming back with a black pad now to refine and polish.

I used Sonax PF on my 135i years ago, and I really liked it. I think it's a great all-rounder on BMW paints.

Took so long to figure out the right pressure and arm speed for this hard as a rock BMW metallic paint. But once I did, it was a breeze. My ceramic coating came in today so I just have to do the front and rear bumpers again with the PF and MF cutting pad then black pad the whole car with PF again.

+1 for Sonax PF. Easiest polish I've ever used.

I'll also be using CSL+EXO when I get around to detailing my car.

Is that top seal you replaced deigned to be that easily replaced?

Yes it is. I was very excited to find that out as my last two resto cars the windshield needed to be removed in order to replace it.

Twenty man hours later and I'm finally done. The paint is super slick! Here's GTechniq's CSL and EXO v4. I don't want to see another polisher for a while!
