It was a classic. I still rewatch it every now and then. Oddly, my wife didn’t seem to think it was funny as I did. Women, can’t live with ‘em, pass the beer nuts.

The thing about "Spinal Tap", for me, was it got funnier every time I watched it. Most comedies are the reverse of that. Very dry humor in that movie.

Automation fail. Sucks.

....FAA to issue an emergency directive warning pilots that a computer on the 737 MAX could force the plane to descend sharply for up to 10 seconds even in manual flight, making it difficult for a pilot to control the aircraft.

Pilots can stop this automated response by pressing two buttons if the system behaves unexpectedly, the directive said.

Yeah it sure would have been nice if Boeing told us about this new system to help prevent a stall. It sounds like the good engineers at Boeing decided to take a page out of the Airbus design school and remove the pilot from the equation.

A Boeing Co. 737 jet struck a light almost 100 feet beyond the end of a runway and just 14 inches high after taking off with insufficient power when its pilots entered the incorrect air-temperature into a computer, according to an air accident bulletin

I wonder if it was a malfunction on Malaysian flt 370? Or the pilots fault, like on the Germanwings disaster, whose anniversary is coming up in another two weeks.

That was also the pilots fault. However, rather than crashing the plane on auto pilot this pilot probably incapacitated all of the passengers and flew some waypoints around military radar to go undetected and flew out to sea him till he ran out of fuel.

But they weren't there was no evidence of mental illness with those guys? The German wings pilot should've been red flagged. And my cousin's husband (who is a commercial pilot, not just General aviation like me) pointed this out the other day.

A plane carrying the University of Michigan basketball team had already reached the critical speed at which pilots could no longer stop it on the runway. The captain abandoned the takeoff anyway, surprising the pilot in the next seat.
