Dinan tune - 8 years in
Hi guys
I'm the original owner of a 2011 E92, with a Borla ATAK and K&N drop-in. Car has 27,000 miles, and is currently sleeping through the cold north jersey winter. My wife recently asked what I'd like for a birthday gift, and I thought about a Dinan tune, which is now down to $300 on the Dinan site. Has everyone on here that has this tune enjoyed it? I'm not looking to track it anymore, nor do I need it to be the fastest thing alive. But a smoother driving experience is what they promise, and that sounds nice. Like perhaps what the car needed from the factory? Thanks in advance for the input.

Its a solid, smooth, reliable tune from one of the biggest, if not the biggest name in the BMW tuning world. You can not go wrong.

What a bummer man, they don't offer a 6MT tune! 😛
In all seriousness, I have the Dinan engine tune and it does improve cold running performance quite a bit. The DCT tune (not applicable to you) is better overall IMO, but given how cheap the engine software is, I think it's worth it. I don't think you'll notice much in the way of performance gains though? |

I had the Dinan tune put on my 08M3 in early 2017 when it was on sale for $279. It is a mild tune. Raised the limiter to 8600. Does not get rid of cold start or CEL when using an x pipe. You might feel the engine is a little smoother but it does not add enough power to feel. Combine it with a few mods and you should feel a cumulative effect — x pipe, intake, pulley. But again beware it does not help with check engine light from test pipes or x pipe.

Spend the money on Rogue Engineering test pipes and buy a used xpipe to swap back to stock when needed. A little more expensive $200 + ~$250, but will be noticeable vs a stage 1 tune with primary cats.

i'm going to add this to the list of things i tell n00bs.... you know, like blinker fluid, muffler bearings. i'm going to start telling the new guys they usually have to call for the secret 6MT tune.

From my research the DINAN tune is the least aggressive of the lot. On a car with stock x-pipe and cats I'm not sure you will feel that much, particularly if your running the latest engine software. If they have a more linear throttle response in sport mode that may be worth the $300 alone. For the money it can't hurt really!

I purchased the Stage 1 and DCT tunes when they went on sale last year. DCT alone was worth the price of both. Dinah claims increase of 10 rwhp and 8 ft/lads rwtq. Not noticeable. Since install I've added pulley, MS stage 2 intake, and Remus Sport exhaust. Noticeable increase in acceleration. I think with your mods you'll like the difference.

I posted my observations a while back. See below link for that. I have to note, the cold start delete I refer to is not actually a cold start delete, but the RPM's are definitely lower than stock on cold start. It's a good, mild tune. If you know the car it's noticeable but not earth shattering.

Spend your money on a Frank Smith tune or one of the others that you'll actually feel. Dinan ecu programming is weak.

I know a lot of Frank Sinatra tunes. None involve the M3.

I installed a few months ago the Dinan tune and Dct software for my 2011...You can feel some performance improvement..It's worth the money in my opinion. This Friday I am taking my car to the dealership to have them install the Dinan pulley.I bought this part during the Christmas holiday sale. I have attached the dyno sheet of my car after I had the engine and transmission software installed. I will post my thoughts on the pulley after spending some time with it.[IMG][/IMG]

I have the Dinan engine performance and DCT software, they work great together. If you have the DCT, I consider the DCT software to be a "must have".

+1 for the Dinan tune. Additionally, I would recommend their DCT tune which greatly improves driving in stop and go traffic and overall makes the car feel smoother, if that makes sense(you'll definitely notice a difference with the DCT tune).
