I am... I have both. Was just updating my profile. 2011 M3 is what I need the cabin filters for.

Thanks

Thanks for the DIY OP. Thread Bump!

I purchased these MANN filters and installed them today. They do not fit well and do not seal on the short ends.

Mine were sized a bit long, and when installed the paper edge would buckle to fit (sometimes at the end, sometimes near the middle).

The short ends create no seal at all. Air can just blow by.

I will pay for OEM next time, if only to have a fully functional part.

You should return them to Amazon if you don't like them.

Thought about it. They are just cabin filters, not like as critical as an engine filter or anything. I will just keep these in until next major service.

This was my impression too. I won't be buying again, I sealed the edges with blue tape but I don't want crap fitment even at a steep discount, if I wanted that I'd just do the Burger filters, which I might still do actually, because racecarstreetcar weight savings!

Why not? Don't you have an adjustable clutch driver. I can guarantee that if using the right power tool set to the right settings, it won't break anything. How do you think BMW installs the screws?

I just ordered them to replace my broken covers.

Now I want to know where you got these for that price! I've been looking and I have not been able to find them that cheap.

the part numbers I listed were just for the plastic cover that goes over the air filter box. I believe I ordered them from a BMW dealer out of Atlanta online. I will try and locate them for you. Let me take a look around.

My apologies. It seems the price is now listed around $50 to $60 each.
My reference was RealOEM which currently lists them for

04 Housing, microfilter top section, left 1 64316958815 $22.14 +core
05 Housing, microfilter top section, right 1 64316958816 $22.14 +core

Appears pricing has changed some and has a core charge attached.

I do not believe I paid 50 bucks each, but I could be wrong. It's been around a year I think. I replaced both sides.

My online sources are all listing 50-60 dollar range now for them, sorry.

Yeah that's about what I'm seeing them for at various sites.
That's too bad. I was hoping for a really good deal.

They (mann) must not have very consistent manufacturing methods because mine were really snug.

I'm sure they have a +/- pleat count and height required when making this PN as well as a trim width tolerance.

We make filters for a living so I know a bit about filter media, process etc.
MANN is actually a competitor to us as well as a customer (private label).

UPDATE

UPDATE
The OEM BMW filter set (includes all four filters) is now $49.49, so no need to buy Amazon filters.
Part Number 64-31-9-159-606

Use getbmwparts or your local dealer's online store. Free shipping if you use your local dealer and pickup at the dealer. I was also buying other things which qualified for free shipping on getbmwparts.

I was googling replacing e9x M3 cabin filters and this thread is the top result but talks about OEM filters being over $100 which isn't the case anymore. So I thought I'd try to help out others here, you can go back to buying OEM as it costs the same as the Amazon filters now.

Anyway, I changed my filters last night. I used the BMW filter pack. It was around $100 bucks. It's twice as much as the MANN posted above, but the plastic trim made a really tight fit. The plastic wedges up against these little clips around the frame which retain a good amount of sealing force on the new filter. I literally had to pry the old ones out. You do not need to remove the weather stripping for this job. It took me 10 minutes and that was with several stops to have a beer. The two front clips were already broken off from some service tech using a power driver on them in the past I assume. 8mm socket If I remember correctly?

FYI, it looks like the replacement covers are these:
64316958815 Housing, microfilter top section, left 1 $21.18
64316958816 Housing, microfilter top section, right 1 $21.18

I just ordered them to replace my broken covers.

Was looking up part numbers as my PO also cracked the tabs on my filter housing covers, and while expected, my how prices have changed since '15 haha. From GetBMWParts.com:

64316958815 Housing, microfilter top section, left $178.66
64316958816 Housing, microfilter top section, right $178.66

Ok, now that’s just silly. Ugh, it fits right in with the state of things lately.

The air is going into the box, not the other way round. Also, the filter is design to catch the latch in this direction.
Yes I believe so too. Not sure why the OP wrote "make sure the filter is oriented the right way" and then failed to explain what the right direction is, and also posted the picture backwards

What to do when the cowling threads are stripped? Is there an ‘easy’ fix? 🤔

Shadetree fix is to cut the end of a thin zip tie into a chunk that fits into the hole. Then thread the screw back in. Not too thick or you'll blow out the plastic.
