transmission or driveshaft failure

what are the odds of a manual tansmission failure.. i told bmw that i was getting some weird noise and when they inspect it they sais i need a new transmission.. i do remember theres a leak on the driveshaft center bearig driveshaft..they said i need a new transmission but my car isnt missing any gears or bad grinding issues.. my guess is that i need driveshaft center support..

Could be a bad input or output shaft bearing or a bad thrust bearing in the transmission. It will eventually seize or blow up and then you'll be stuck where ever this happens.

I'm guessing you're getting some sort of clunking or whining sound from under the car?

What exactly, and when, is the weird noise?

if u know so much about fixing your car why take it to the dealer? just do it yourself instead of second guessing their recommendations. m3's are expensive vehicles. they are not hondas or toyotas, the repair/maintenance costs reflect that....
