That doesn't change the fact that BMW markets the M timing app to be used with their M cars on track. Pretty sure that alone would help win a case against BMW for trying to deny warranty because a timing device was used at an HPDE.

""The BMW M Laptimer and GoPro integrations have both proven to be incredibly popular with driving enthusiasts," said Christian Schmid, senior development engineer at the BMW Group Technology Office USA, in a release. "From the time that we launched the first in-car integration for a GoPro camera, bringing that integration together with the BMW M Laptimer seemed like the natural way to really enhance the track driving experience. This allows us to provide BMW drivers the ability to safely capture and share their track experience."

Coming from someone that appears to have sold their out of warranty BMW for a warrantied car....

Exactly, but old BMW cars are much more reliable than now.

I have driven multiple M2's and I am not sure why you guys are disappointed. It is different , but I would not use disappointed as a word to describe it. It is a great car in every aspect. I would not replace it with my E92 M3, but I sure would add it to the stable. The M2 has so much more potential with minor modifications. And the N55 sounds great.

100% agree. It drives great, and even though the N55 isn't as guttural as the S65, it still sounds pretty damn good.

I'm still getting adjusted to the stubbier body style, but even that's growing on me.

A highly capable chassis, and an engine prepped for mods, I think it has lots of potential.

I think it's one of the best M cars produced in the last 10 years....especially since it's so tossable (almost Cayman tossable, ALMOST....but that's high praise).

To be honest the N55 M2 felt slower than my E36 M3 euro being around 200kg heavier and not much power difference (321 vs 370ps). I guess M2 competition is a much better buy now with the S55 engine.

Speaking abot M2 comp pack, did they work on the noise at all or same M4 fart?

I drove the M2 Competition and was suitably impressed. BMW have listened to their customers and it sounds quite good. Here's my "Review in a Few"...

I think the official name is "M2 Competition" rather than "M2 Comp pack" since it is quite a different car from the original N55 one.

With OPF standard since 2018, M2 comp sounds a lot more refined but I personally like the aggressive "fart" of M4s. M2 just sounds muffled to me. Maybe I am too JDM in taste..

Bmw just wants to maximize profits like most of the other car companies. They don’t care about your passion for Motorsports or bmws. If you have a good history of buying new bmws, they might help you in the end. You need to be a valuable customer. That’s all they care about.

Porsche is the only company I know of that truly warranties tracked cars without issues.
Just anecdotal but my experience suggests the opposite--BMW replaced a failed engine in my wife's out of warranty X3 but Porsche all but laughed in my face about replacing a failed engine in my barely out of warranty 911 before handing me a bill.

Not track related, but I actually trust BMW way more than Porsche. I didn't buy either car new or even from the dealers that replaced the engines.

I owned multiple e92 m3 f80 m3 and an m2. apples and oranges.

m2 is a great DD w good torque around town and feels tossable. manual was great.

But lacks the emotion of the NA cars at higher revs. you only hear gushing wind as the turbo drowns out the motor. I had mpe and dinan.. so great daily but not really a weekend fun toy.

Damage, that is one helluva list of past cars you have owned.

So, please tank your top 3, based on your own personal preference for speed, agility and comfort.

Is your E92 a daily or track car?
