Is 3M double sided tape enough for rear CF wing ?

Dealer says it's Ok, but others use Betalink cleaner and glue instead

What is your experience ?

What do you think ?

Thanks for the help

Mine is double sided tape only. It has held on up to 155mph and been on for over a year and stayed fixed.

I used the auto 3M tape and gone 130mph multiple times and its still solid as a rock. Doesnt even budge when I yank on it.

With proper cleaning of the OEM spoiler adhesive off the trunk and good contact, the double sided 3M tape SHOULD do the job.

All I used on mine was 3M tape. Nothing else.

I recently did the install…I initially wanted to just do 3M Double-sided tape, but after reading all the reviews I decided to go with Betalink. Let's just say I'm so glad I did. Feels so damn secure and doesn't move a bit. If you take the time to prep and do this install correct with Betalink, the results are the best possible IMO.

I've done 160+ plenty of times and mine is solid with tape. I would never consider permanently mounting something so delicate to the car.

Betalink isn't permanent. It's harder to clean up but far from permanent.

3M double sided is especially made for this. Just make sure to use the automotive tape with the red backing.
No need for messy glue.

^This.

I'm sure 3M tape holds just fine for this…but from my own personal experience, I've felt how secure both feel…and Betalink definitely feels more secure IMO.

3m for sure. If needed use 3m adhesion promoter and it'll never come off

Another to add, and I can't stress this enough. When using the 3M tape, you have to be absolutely certain both surfaces you are bonding to are totally clean. That means washing with soap and water and then stripping down all wax, protectants etc.

Best thing I have found to use for that is 91% alcohol and a tack cloth.

Double sided tape is all you need. I was concerned at the beginning but it is on there good! ...Clean area with alcohol and it will not be a problem. The betalink is overkill...plus when you sell the car you can take the spoiler off and regain 350 to 400 bucks by selling on this forum. With the Beta link don't even bother taking it off ...way too much trouble and its not worth the money you could sell it for to take it off .

3M tape has some flex. That does not reflect on how secure it is though. I'd rather have it flex if something hits or falls on the car. At least there's a chance that the spoiler will survive.

Since the chances of that actually happening to me are almost zero, I'm good to go then.

I don't plan on ever selling my car, selling or removing this spoiler, and the odds of damage actually happening to this part compared to a CF front lip are pretty slim…Betalink was my choice.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either choice…it's all personal preference. Both will hold that extremely lightweight spoiler just fine. Cheers.
